War Thunder is pretty good. It does the WoT style massive-grind-or-pay-to-reach-top-tier, but unlike WoT it's solidly fun the whole way through so as long as you don't care about jets or kingtigers you're fine for free. E: Starmade is pretty good if you like spergy blockbuilding in space. It's only a "demo" according to steam but the demo is the same as the full version until it leaves alpha.
