I will advance 1! The first clash was basically luck, but I'm really happy I managed to get around the strike. That thing was scaring me.

I'll pull one, then she moves one. Pretty sure that's game. Androc fucked around with this message at 16:36 on Jul 23, 2015 |

Assuming forced movement e.g. Grasp doesn't trigger traps (as I believe is the case), retreat one when Drax hits then retreat 1 Before A.

Right, it doesn't. The only possible way out of that for me would have been if you had chosen to advance to my other side and trigger the alarm trap. One thing I definitely wish over the course of this game was that I could throw you into traps, but oh well. Anyway, good game! Malandrax is a super interesting character, and I definitely feel like I have a lot to learn about him. I only landed two traps the entire game counting my finisher, and one of them didn't actually do anything. I'm not sure who this matchup is considered to favor, but Draining and Bloodweapon definitely made things harder since they often removed any ability to say 'she has to move here to attack!' A very well-played game on Wol's part, congratulations.

This match was pretty harrowing from my point of view as well - Alarm Trap meant I had to play much more cautiously than I'd like with Purging, and I also had to keep in mind that drat Electroshock Trap all match. Thankfully I got in a couple lucky guesses (like Beat 1) to swing things in my favour, but I feel like this could easily have gone either way. Good game, Androc!

Wol posted:Assuming forced movement e.g. Grasp doesn't trigger traps (as I believe is the case), retreat one when Drax hits then retreat 1 Before A. Yes it does. If you use Grasp to pull someone into the center space, and you have Electroshock ready, you trap them.

Wol posted:Based on what? Every trigger is "when an opponent moves to...", and based on the official FAQ on Ottavia's Snapback, "moves" is short for "moves or is moved by...". Also, what's the point of Ingenious otherwise?

Wol posted:The same as any other character who gets push/pull? I believe you based on the Snapback thing, though it's a bit disappointing - I thought Malandrax's weakness was that he had to be clever and use finesse to get his traps going, but I guess he can just brute force it. Malandrax's weakness is mobile characters, because there are always at least two spaces next to each other that are safe from all traps (Unless Malandrax is in the absolute center of the board, where he wants to be anyway as a mid-range character). And good reading, but that's any character. Alarm Trap seriously stuffs that much stuff.
