So I am working on a blog on WordPress but I've built up some content, and have been working on graphics and crap for an actual website to possibly monetize. The information I've gathered so far has been - Use BlueHost to set up hosting - Make sure I have enough content to be able to hook into Google's advertising system (I think it was like minimum 7 posts?) But that was where I got lost -???? -(Theoretical) profit I've not really played around with website crap since Geocities was at its zenith, so the process of blogging, while interesting, is something that I'd like to get money from as well as seems to be a bit confusing. Any advice, from hosting to graphic apps for a tablet, to personal experience, is appreciated. Thanks!

Monechetti posted:- Use BlueHost to set up hosting BlueHost is a bad host. Check out the hosting megathread. A lot of the goon run hosts are great. Rackspace is also good. Don't go cheap for hosting because no one is going to read your blog if it takes forever to load and/or is down all the drat time. poo poo, you could probably use blogspot or some poo poo and make money if you wanted. Monechetti posted:-???? Write lots of good content that people want to read. Everything else is secondary to this, unless you want to be one of those obnoxious blogs that just repost memes and top 10 lists from Buzzfeed. Also there is an entire thread about exactly this topic.

Study some SEO stuff, in fact there's even a whole industry of SEO posts; a while back I got paid for writing gambling-related stuff in a blog, so you might wanna contact an SEO company for some extra coin

Google Adsense. Amazon Affiliate program. Never use blackhat SEO. If you don't know what that is yet, good. Also, make sure to get a custom premium theme going. That's almost required. After ~18 months of blogging, I get about 30-50$/month from my two websites (https://www.sciencebadger.com and https://www.wirebiters.com) that I contribute to somewhat frequently. It is a hobby that pays for itself eventually. It's not going to let you quit your day job unless you pick the right niche and put a ton of work into building a sustainable following. The best way seems to be via social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. Check out that thread posted above. It's kind of dead but filled with good information.

Thanks for the information everyone. This will be a good amount of information to comb through, so I appreciate it - it seems daunting to start but maybe it's really not.

I'm probably going to fix that by deleting them and going back to default Wordpress
