I've just been really impressed in general with this season. It's borderline embarrassing how much I love this show so it's hard to be subjective. I've said this before, but even the segments that I don't find as funny still make me laugh based on the overarching premise of the show just being so goddamn great. You'd almost expect the narrators to get more self-aware or self-conscious the more seasons are filmed since at that point they know the deal, know what Derek's looking for, what he's likely to use and not use. But y'know, that's the funny thing about alcohol - it makes you not give a gently caress! So the narration has still been fantastic. There's been some really great new narrators this season too! I think this show is also cool in that it gives actors the chance to play a role they would otherwise never be considered for, ever...like Steve Little as Mark Twain, or Thomas Middleditch as Sam the Banana Man. And Michael Cera in the journalism episode was great too...haven't rewatched yet but it seemed like he was really enjoying being able to play a tough leader as opposed to his normal mousey roles.

Another great episode, and once again I'm mostly just blown away that these are actual, factual stories of American History. What the poo poo was up with the founder of the Boy Scouts? What a weirdo! Also I feel this season's thread is severely lacking in the gif department...may need to bite the bullet and make a few of my own before too long!

Paget Brewster's segment this week was my favorite so far this season. And it's been a great season. "I do love bras." "I can see. You do have a lot of-" "More than steam boats." "You're allergic?" Is this just American history? I saw a few episodes when it started and it was funny, but that was a major downside for me. I wanna see them get into some of the crazy poo poo that happened in Europe or Asia.
|
# ? Nov 25, 2015 19:05 |

So far they've had one or two non-American stories. There is a Drunk History UK and it makes me think that maybe Drunk History US isn't venturing outside the US a lot in case they can make deals to have other international adaptations of their show.

I wanna see them get into some of the crazy poo poo that happened in Europe or Asia. Technically it's just American History, yeah. But there have been quite a few stories that mostly took place in Europe that just had some sort of tie to America...the most recent episode discussing Wernher von Braun, for instance. Just so you know, there apparently is a UK version of Drunk History that would presumably feature more World History, but by all accounts it's absolute trash, not even a little bit funny. e: typo timp fucked around with this message at 19:52 on Nov 25, 2015 |

This is funny because you guys are ignoring the Cosmonaut story from this very episode. Also Roald Dahl story a bit back. eta- a lot of it is going to be American, because a lot of the episodes are about whatever city Derek visits.
