drunk asian neighbor posted:yeah listen you seem really angry about this but as was pointed out earlier you can right-click the start button and it's right there it's a goony argument but it's just one minor example of the general decision making in the design of the OS. It just has tons of little nitpick stuff like that I hate and there isn't a ton of good reasons to jump to 10 from 7 yet so I won't and I don't care about their false time limit.

The Faster startup times were pretty impressive to me when I was booting from an HDD (maybe 5-10 seconds?) before I got my m2 drive. Everything else worked the same as win 7 so I don't see a reason not upgrade. Thanks to Microsfot for te free upgrade!! -A Literal Retard

the only thing I was pleasantly surprised by was the upgrade process itself, in that across three computers it magically managed to not gently caress up and brick at least one of them, which considering their track record with similar experiments in the past is a legitimate improvement that was impressive, but considering the cumulative changes include a nicer file transfer graph and a categorically worse start menu it's still pretty small time

I have never had to use Windows 8 somehow -office workstations are still on 7 -Win7 laptop survived through Win8 period without problems; still going -still have Retail Win7 key sitting around from college so PC got a fresh Win7 install when I threw the SSD in there to replace now-groaningly-slow HDD as boot disk feel like I kinda lucked out in an extremely minor and inconsequential way there

My biggest beef with 10 is it doesn't take into account my video game playing before installing updates so for like 2 minutes everyday my games will run like poo poo suddenly and without warning. And it is EVERY day.

Windows updates can still be disabled from within the Services module, which you can find by typing the same into Cortana/search unfortunately to get updates again you'll have to re-enable windows updates the same way and then run updates through Settings but that's just the ease and convenience of Windows 10 at work

Windows for serious should just make Windows free to end users because this poo poo is very confusing and we've all payed the windows tax probably 10 times over so far. They can still charge OEMs their 40 bucks or whatever because lol at trying to sell a laptop with ubuntu on it. Most users aren't confident enough to take it home an install a usable OS. edit: Oh and enterprises can still get charged $$$$ per seat because that's where the real money is anyway.
