Did some price comparison. I can pretty much become a billionaire from all the money I'd save on my asthma meds but how do I avoid getting scammed. I'm in the us.

99.9% of those sites aren't Canadian and aren't going to sell you legit drugs. Even our own government has warnings about them. http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/drugs-products-medicaments-produits/buying-using-achat-utilisation/drugs-internet-medicaments/index-eng.php The only way is to use places certified by this organization. Note how short their list is. Don't stray from it. http://www.cipa.com/certified-safe-online-pharmacies/ (note: I've never used an online pharmacy since I'm in Canada already, but the scam gets a lot of press here.)

I've ordered drugs from Medisave. They've been legit enough so far - my wife gets medication for one of her medical conditions there, given that the US-approved alternative has far worse side effects and what she takes is OTC in the rest of the world. I've also ordered stuff from them over the years. They're the storefront for a Canadian pharmacy that won't just sell you drugs, they require a faxed scrip, and the meds themselves come from wholesalers that sell to the rest of the world. So the prescription you get will be manufactured in India or Turkey, but it's the same generics that you'd get in Canada or the UK. The way it works: you open an account, you place an order, they give you a cover page unique to the order that you fax in with your signed scrip. They call you to confirm, go over any other meds you may be taking to check in on possible interactions, give you any "make sure you do X, don't do Y, etc. while on this medication" for the first time you order anything, and then they fulfill the order. Bear in mind that it may take 3-4ish weeks to get the medication, since they ship from the UK. Avoid InhousePharmacy - they're out of Vanuatu and I never got an order that I placed from them, then completely screwed me out of a refund.

Scudworth posted:99.9% of those sites aren't Canadian and aren't going to sell you legit drugs. Pretty much this (with the exception that I can't confirm the legitimacy or illegitimacy of drugs you get from these sites.) My doc suggested getting my prescription from online Canadian pharmacies so it would be cheaper for me. Based on the research I did the above quote is correct. Most of the sites I came across were, upon further examination, Indian or Turkish in origin. They attempted varying degrees of appearing legal, such as requesting a scan of the prescription, others didn't bother, and still others didn't even attempt the pretense. These places are a bit of a grey area for those of us in the US, and it was initially hard for me to nail down their legality during my research. Eventually I came across this and this which were helpful in understanding. I did find legit online Canadian pharmacies but unfortunately they were still quite expensive.

I used Canadadrugs.com when I had to buy my symbicort and/or flovent inhalers. They were pretty quick, and they were very kind and polite to me.

Thank you all for the first hand stories. I did find the CIPA on my research but that list and the company names on the list made me a bit wary so I wanted to make sure it was all legit.PromethiumX posted:When I think of reputable pharmaceuticals I immediately think of cheapodrugs.com Mainly this

I guess you could always call/email the Canadian government regulatory body for prescription drugs and ask which online Canadian pharmacies are legit. That should give you as definitive an answer as you're likely to get.

Dude THANK YOU I had to place an order with Medisave and it was going to be $239 after shipping. Canadadrugs had it cheaper after shipping/handling and Retailmenot had a 25% off code for first-time customers. Even before the code it would have saved me a small chunk, which always helps. Edit: not to mention you can upload prescriptions directly, rather than deal with having to fax 'em. MJP fucked around with this message at 20:33 on Jul 5, 2016 |
