I thought they were trees but since most systems only have the root and a bunch of regular uses it doesn't come into play much.

tbh tho i normally hear people pronounce router the dumb seppo way & do the same myself. which is weird because the thing a router does to packets & the paths it does that along are both correctly pronounced "root"
