:ohdear: i will make a vague statement under spoiler tags

the overall tone is on par with The Road and the ending is only marginally more hopeful imo. don't see it if you want something that ends on a happy note.

hateful 8 is a beautifully shot and well acted piece of poo poo that seemed to have zero thought put in to it and is never better than its opening scene

i mean yeah for a movie so long it did breeze by but when it was over I couldn't tell if I really enjoyed myself or if you could dress anything up with snow and a post-civil war setting and I would enjoy myself. The ending is so off that it bothered the hell out of me (as in it's hard to align the director that made Jackie Brown with the same guy who thought the ending was a good idea). The moment I gave up was his weird half assed narration that sounded like he recorded it on his phone on his way to dropping off the print. It seemed to sum up the feel of Tarantino going through all the exciting work of lining up a murderers row of actors (please please get Walton Goggins in more things), fancy old cameras and a beautiful setting but then forgetting to make anything good out of it.

It was better than the Revenant tho

i didn't see any of these movies yet, but am crossing hateful eight of my list thanks to your helpful suggestions!! :a2m:

I LOVED Mud, but the movie doesn't pay off with anything intense in the beginning or whatever so regarding midnight special, while it's prolly gonna be rewarding i don't initially feel like seeing Jeff Nichols movies.
