Pez posted:Edit: also the irony of a property named after my home state doing that much damage to my bank account Then you'll be pleased to know that I actually misspoke, and you were on Pacific Avenue, not North Carolina. Turn 28 Team Hat uses their last joker, maybe even the last joker of the game. It actually robs DivineCoffeeBinge of the jail they wanted. Instead DCB lands on Chance, and UnCO3 passes Go and makes a profit even after paying rent. Pez doesn't roll well enough to escape the danger row, but does land on Chance and (possibly) safety. PBS Newshour pays rent. Team Iron continues to just copy Team Cannon. What the hell, oldskool? Chance is kind to Pez and enigmatic to DCB, as three spaces back puts them on Community Chest. Community Chest, however, is kind. This isn't the boon it once was, but fifty bucks a head is still equivalent to passing Go. PBS risks a speeding ticket on the reroll. But avoids bankruptcy on the danger row by landing on Community Chest. Which still has some kindness to dispense. The last roll avoids jail but does get PBS past Go. ...and on Community Chest again. But the well of kindness seems to have dried up now. With that, everyone avoids elimination this turn. If Pez can get past some blue bullets, we'll be having another joker challenge. Stay tuned for another update since I know nobody can use a joker! MONEY TOTALS: TEAM HAT 1. UnCO3 - $776 3. DivineCoffeeBinge - $473 TEAM SHOE 2. Pez - $672 TEAM CANNON 1. PBS Newshour - $207 TEAM IRON 1. oldskool - $488 TEAM BATTLESHIP - OUT

Turn 29 Dice are rolled. No doubles, for the first time maybe? I haven't been paying attention. Team Hat pays rent, DivineCoffeeBinge safely getting past the blue bullets to do so. Pez also barely makes it through, triggering another Joker Challenge. PBS Newshour pays an electric bill, finally cheaper than the rent all around. oldskool's luck runs out, however, as Illinois Avenue is red with... the red ink of their bank account balance. The state of the board. With DCB and Pez both tied for furthest from Go, I arbitrarily make Pez the tortoise as well as the rabbit. Not that it will much matter, unless the dice go crazy. oldskool goes out in 5th place, and Team Iron has been flattened. So for the (probably final) Joker Challenge, I want the final four to have creative freedom. You can make whatever original work you want, as long as it relates to poo poo-Talking Casual Monopoly in some way. Preferably making GBS threads on the other teams, but hell, at this stage I just appreciate when people actually participate. You have until Monday, October 31st, 11 PM pacific to make your submissions. MONEY TOTALS: TEAM HAT 1. UnCO3 - $506 3. DivineCoffeeBinge - $583 TEAM SHOE 2. Pez - $782 TEAM CANNON 1. Turn 30 Team Hat gets and uses their joker. Which results in these dice being selected. It works out pretty well for them. Because UnCO3 pays rent instead of paying rent they can't afford, and DivineCoffeeBinge visits jail instead of paying rent. Pez pays an electric bill. PBS Newshour lands on Free Parking. The state of the board. Once again no one is eliminated because my dice hate eliminations I guess. Both UnCO3 and PBS Newshour, from their current spaces, need one of three rolls to avoid elimination next turn. In fact, if PBS gets a 10 next turn, they may well outlast everyone else by sitting in jail. MONEY TOTALS: TEAM HAT 1. UnCO3 - $56 3. DivineCoffeeBinge - $583 TEAM SHOE - JOKER 2. Pez - $672 TEAM CANNON 1. PBS Newshour - $107

Turn 31 Dice are rolled. Team Hat ends up on Community Chest, possibly letting UnCO3 survive. Pez decides to join them. PBS Newshour, unable to move backward, cannot join the others, and cannot afford rent. Community Chest is unusually cruel, but not to UnCO3. The state of the board. PBS Newshour is out in 4th place, and Team Cannon gets fired. Barring doubles, both DivineCoffeeBinge and Pez should stay in play next turn. UnCO3, however, cannot afford any rent. Once again, three die results will keep UnCO3 in the game and anything else eliminates them. MONEY TOTALS: TEAM HAT 1. UnCO3 - $256 3. DivineCoffeeBinge - $403 TEAM SHOE - JOKER 2. Pez - $622

Turn 32 Dice are rolled. UnCO3 doesn't hit a safe spot this time, while DivineCoffeeBinge pays rent. With 3 houses, the rent on Illinois Ave. is $750. Pez only has $622. With a grand total of $133 left to their name, DivineCoffeeBinge is the winner! For having more money at the start of the turn, Pez takes second place, and UnCO3 comes in third. FINAL STANDINGS: 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkepW2JEm24 Sweet, sweet victory! UnCO3, Allen Wren, know that you were the best teammates for a game where we had virtually no control over the outcome or strategic decisions to make that a guy could ask for. Everyone else, you shoulda picked Hat.

The worst part is I'm already thinking that I should run this again, with the better Rule 8 (no money for Go). It was incredibly frustrating watching almost everyone make a profit on their first lap, and equally disheartening to have to patch together some kind of fix so the game would eventually end. Team Hat unquestionably had the most jokers and certainly made good use of that, but I think part of the reason it came down to Hat plus Pez was because they were the ones who made the most money early on when making money was easy. I'd probably also take out the Chairman of the Board/Opening Night at the Opera cards as well, as an $850 swing when a turn sees about $20 in rent is just unfair.

It'd be complicated to keep track of, but as far as 20PSTM rule changes I was thinking making rent go up every time someone lands on a space would add a bit of intrigue throughout the game, building land mines the second time around the board. It'd also draw the game out like crazy unless you also implemented the tortoise-increases-the-rent clause though.
