I wasn't sure if this should go here or in the Games sub-forum. Post cool/terrible game covers, bizarre advertisements of old, it all works really. I bought this game at a disc replay for $5 recently. It isn't remotely fun, but the cover alone is worth it!

Also while looking for that poster I ended up finding an TV advert for the game I've never seen before. Gave me a chuckle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoyHg6kAXWU

Speaking of Mega-Man, you gotta love the dichotomy between Japanese and American covers~

this illustration absolutely does not represent the Street Fighter video game this on the other hand is definitely Popeye cool, minimal, and evocative this is still basically a correct depiction of the experience of being an Intellivision fan, btw which is too bad, since first-party Intellivision games were a showcase for that cool painterly style of box art that seems to have completely vanished last but not least, a very peculiar game

Bulletstorm had a fun one. The whole game was about going back to the "classic" shooter experience with fast movement and creative weapons, to contrast with the then-popular realistic shooters. So to that end, they actually went ahead and made a short playable spoof of the various Call of Dutys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE_msAKWdOs

This one is brilliant. When you have limited resources to set the scene within the game it's self, here is box art doing that work. "Let me tell you a little story about the bullet storm of thirty aught seven"

A terrible Pac-Man rip-off remembered only for its name and cover. Fun fact: the cover was stolen from the book The Howling III: Echoes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Howling_III:_Echoes
