I see all of these tab suspenders for chrome, but I can't find the slightest thing explaining how they work ("They cause thing to happen!" is every article on the drat things). I've noticed that they will bring back my tabs to the point where I left off, without reloading the page. Based on this, I think it is reasonable to conclude that they either compress & save the contents of the tab, or they save it without compressing it. Does anyone know for sure?

Unless you have some tiny or lovely SSD from 2011, who cares? You're not going to kill your SSD

https://techreport.com/review/27909/the-ssd-endurance-experiment-theyre-all-dead SSDs last years even when you're doing a crazy amount of writes to them. You won't be able to wear a recent one out with normal usage.
