Me too man. Me too. The other day I was crankin this tune. My 84 Chevy G20 Van (with shag carpet interior naturally) was bouncin along with Mr Durst. People looked at me the whole time. Old people were scared and young people just gazed in awe. I think thats what the look was. Fairly sure.

Those were dark days. Youtube's first two years were nothing but fan made Buffy and Angel videos with that drat Evanescence song. You know the one. EVERY BLOODY VIDEO.

That's a killer song but when I was really angry at my dad only two songs would do: Korn's "Dead Bodies Everywhere" and this song.

there's not really any specific group to blame, a lot of bands in the late 80s/early 90s were doing stuff that later got copied by nu-metal bands

lapd which became korn was heavily influenced by stuff like prong and red hot chili peppers and suicidal tendencies

i've heard that anthony kiedis hates how people point at "Suck My Kiss" as a major influence on nu-metal. it's a bad music genre, sure, but he's got no room to talk

I got my on-air spot on my college's radio station by playing Pitchshifter, the English guy in charge was amazed that anyone knew who they were. And now, in honor of that, I shall go listen to Deviant.

faith no more (especially angel dust) and deftones are prolly the two biggest influencers on nu metal, though there are of course others beyond these two that played smaller roles.

You can be both ashamed of something and still feel that irresistible pull of sentimentality about it. Its like patriotism in that way: You have some guys that are totally like "zomg my country is the best and all the rest suxx0rz" but those are rare. I don't even live in Russia anymore but still feel the urge to don Adidas and feel my heart swell when I hear cheeki breeki. I can listen to Radiohead or Amon Amarth or Hawkwind or Deltron or Brian Jonestown Massacre or even Push but still... sometimes I crank "If only we can FLYYYYYYYYYYYYY". Generation Next. Generation Strange. The late 90s and early 00s spawned SomethingAwfulDotCom. We are all here. Own it.

Also nothing wrong with the Deftones. Band is great. If you don't like their version of The Chauffeur then you are a sad, sad man.

I hated nu-metal when I was an actual teenager trying to prove that I was "above" all that juvenile stuff. But then you grow up OP and realize you can enjoy things without making it a part of your identity. Wowzers!

Glassjaw kinda got lumped in with the numetal crowd, because they were on Roadrunner. Their album "Everything you ever wanted to know about silence" was basically my anthem throughout high school.

They new stuff they're putting out is amazing as well.

Back in my high school days (around 2001) my high school had a radio station. The band Ill Nino came and did an interview and hung out at the station for a few hours. They are awesome guys, and it was cool they actually made time for a small high school radio station that 15 people were listening to at any given time.

I still rock them now and again. Good workout music.

System of a Down is nu-metal, right? I listened to a them a ton when I was 15, directly the influence of the internet boyfriend I met through a Dreamcast game.

Then I listened to Mezmerize and Hypnotize a ton when I was 20, but I have no one to blame that on. :(

you can actually inflate your scrote pretty safely with sterile saline, syringes, needles, and aseptic technique. its a niche kink iirc

the saline just slowly gets absorbed into your blood but in the meantime you got a big round smooth distended nutsack

you thought that because it was true

after they got out of their record deal and went back to indie labels they became much more fun because suddenly they no longer hated their lives & work

I'm still really into Full Devil Jacket. Both the EP and the self titled album they did was loving amazing.

Unfortunately they broke up due to drug and alcohol issues, and the singer went on to be in a super religious rock band after "finding jesus". They did a new album last year though, and man, is it god awful.
