"...missing qualities may be returned to the cinema by the act of delaying the image, returning to and repeating certain moments and breaking down the linearity of narrative continuity. Halting the flow of film splits apart the different levels of time that are usually fused together. In detaching the time of the index from the time of fiction, the delayed cinema dissolves the imaginative power of the fiction, as well as the forward drive that, Barthes argues, obscures a cinematic punctum" - Laura Muley

lets use the power of digital media to free images from the insulting dominance of narrative and share our favorite stills, loops and clips from films that have left an impact. it will be nice to at least mention what movie the images you share are coming from. according to my computer i have 2000+ stills from films Ive watched and the number grows every day, so Ill pick out some at random to share with everybody

From the 1968 film Black Lizard

grungy images full of the pixellation inherent to the swapping of copies of copies can be kind of effective. there's a brief moment in this movie where the evil villain makes these two people pretend to be statues or else theyll be killed and they hold the shot for a while as the actors struggle to not wobble off the stand, and due to the poor quality of the image the distinction between and around their bodies starts blurring into the pixels the more they struggle not to move. a touching moment brought about by digital decay

From the 1984 film Funeral

From 1966 film Fighting Elegy

this one is a huge high quality GIF so ill link it to not shred people's browsers https://my.mixtape.moe/xiiygh.gif

Do you feel it, Zach?
My coffee warned me about it.

It's impossible to pick a favorite scene from Kusturica's "Black Cat, White Cat but" for some reason I remember this one visually:

Probably because it's such a Chaplin-like sequence but drenched in the characteristic black humor of the movie.

Black Sheep. One of the best movies that Chris Farley has ever preformed in. He executed his comedic and wildcard elements perfectly. :nws:rock the vote:nws:
