Secure. Contain. Protect.
Fallen Rib
It is the long-ago time, back when the world was new. Back when all ideas were just beginning, and animals had not yet forgotten how to walk and speak like humans. Humans and gods and spirits hunted and warred and lived together. The first Sorrow had only just been born, and Grandmother Spider still spun her tales for children.

Yesterday, the sun went down as she always does. But she has not risen again. It is long past time it should be day again, but the night has stretched far past its stay. The stars grow tired and sleepy, and their light grows even dimmer. People are beginning to panic. What will they do if the sun does not return?

The wise ones say that the sun has not merely disappeared. They say she has been stolen underground. Heroes must go deep down and set her free. Are you ready to forge your legend?

This is a game set in a mythic world where big heroes make their mark on the world. You aren't just a thief, you're Coyote, you're Loki, you're Anansi. You aren't just a warrior, you're Hercules, you're Gilgamesh, you're Karna, you're Gulnara. You aren't just a wizard, you're Baba Yaga, you're Merlin, you're Väinämöinen. You might be a man or woman who has transcended their humanity, you may be an animal avatar like Raven or Sun Wukong, or you may be the child of a god, or something stranger still. Whatever your origin, you are defined by the impossible.

The system we will be using is a stripped down Powered by the Apocalypse engine. Find it here.

I'm looking for three to four heroes. Criteria I'll be looking for in particular will be cool backstory, fun powers, and diversity in abilities/backstories.

JUST LOOK AT THIS SHIT POST!

Takin' a stab at this.

Vindan

In the depths of the Great Forest, hunting under the eaves of the endless, towering black pines, lives the wolves who walk like men. Greatest and sleekest of these is Vindan the Black, who is both a woman and a wolf. As a pup, she slew the Wyrm of the Forest, a great, sleek snake that devoured man and beast alike, with a spear, and as an adult, she was the guardian of the tribe. Alas, conflict was inevitable when the nearby city of Shash-hat tried to expand into their territory - but one night, when all was silent, she stalked silently into the palace of the King of Shash-hat, and, slipping past the guards, she confronted the King himself. With surprising eloquence, she convinced him that the wolf-people of the Forest were better as allies than tributaries - being poor by the standards of man, but a good bulwark against invaders who would travel through the forest. So impressed was the King that he offered her a spot in his royal guard as part of the pact, and she agreed.

For a few years now, Vindan has been the Hound of Shash-hat. When the dreadful sorcerer Talmid marched his unholy legions of manbeasts against the city, Vindan slew the sorcerer in his tent. When the royal vizier Khatem Nar plotted against the King, it was Vindan who evaded the spell of sleep he cast by being a wolf, and pinned the treacherous vizier to the altar of the god of the city. Now that the Sun has gone, it is to the hunter and hero Vindan that the King has turned, sending her to go and retrieve it.

Moves:
Eternal Hunt
When you swear to hunt and kill your prey, roll+Cleverness. On a 10+, hold 3. On a 7-9, hold 1. On a 6-, your prey feels your breath on their neck, and will be ready for your coming. Spend hold 1-for-1 to do the following:
- Know the direction and approximate distance to your prey
- Identify the best immediate approach to finding your prey
- Avoid a single immediate obstacle between you and your prey
- Move into a position to strike your prey unawares
- Identify a weakness or vulnerability in your prey

Wolf of the Great Forest
When you move between wolf and human form, roll+Cleverness. On a 10+, your shift is flawless; take a +1 on moves made that exploit the advantages of the changed form. On a 7-9, you change, but you gain no particular advantage from it beyond the increased sense of smell and hearing (if wolf) or increased eyesight and prehensile hands (if human). On a 6-, you change, but the change disorients you; take -1 until you have a few quiet moments to adjust to the different senses.

Intimidation
You can terrify people with a glance. When you enter combat, roll+Might and tell us how you intimidate your enemies. On a 10+, hold 2. On a 7-9, hold 1. Spend your hold to terrify an enemy, who freezes up and cannot act until you break it off. On a 6-, your enemies immediately identify you as their biggest threat.

I wrote Eternal Hunt because it feels right for a hunter-hero type to have a move specifically about hunting and tracking things. Wolf of the Great Forest is an altered version of Shapeshift, because while the concept is that she's a Beorn-style skinchanger, the Shapeshift move was too broad for what someone who's basically only got two forms. Let me know if either of them seems like too much.
