Lol that's exactly what the Other is. People don't justify their anti-social behavior with "see those guys over there? They've had a real poor go at life. They're beaten down, weak, and dejected which means it'll be real easy for us to take all their stuff". The story is that *they're* the one who had the poor go at life, and so when they're stealing and commiting wanton acts of violence it's because they're actually a hero righting the wrongs of someone that's much more well to do.

Have you ever had to eat plain white bread? Have a cop roll up on you at 2 am and tell your mom to move the car because you can't sleep in this parking lot? Watch the church folks that you grew up around completely ignore that you need help?

I've seen others get hosed over and been hosed over enough that maybe I think it is wrong that someone who doesn't do any actual work can live a life of such luxury that they don't even know how bad their workers have it. He's playing with his workers livelihoods like they're chess pawns. It's loving sickening and you're pretending that people seeing the wrong in this are just jealous. I don't want to live like a loving billionaire. Or even a millionaire. I'm actually quite happy with my one bedroom apartment with my wife and our few cats.

What I'm not happy with is that the medical bills from her appendicitis that we're currently in the hospital for could lead to us being homeless, from a random medical emergency.

I'm not happy that there are people in my neighborhood going without food, or walking miles to work each day because they can't get their beater car fixed and someone stole their bike.

She just got back from having some scans done so I won't be back to the thread for a while, bye.

A more powerful comparison would be the social projects (alleviating poverty, climate change research, education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc.) that could be funded instead of the dimensions of physical currency. no i dont, actually

I do, that vile show on CBS that humanizes porky. The creator and producers of that show really will after a very short trial just get the wall if they live long enough to see the revolution.

murders hard to pin, if they can first prove willful malice with a smaller charge it would be easier to make it stick later. if they don't seek justice on the deaths at the moment, someone else can still make that case. The laws cited in this case would be double jeopardy, so if it was a murder one charge and nothing else, that would be hosed up

Wonderful article not because it tells us what we already know. The "Meritocratic elite" are screwing us, wealth inequality is increasing health problems happen more in the poor. But because at the end, out effete liberal can't be bothered to come up with policy prescriptions..

the elite screwing everyone else is what they're supposed to do in capitalism

if they weren't doing that, it wouldn't be capitalism

I glanced through the article and it doesn't seem to recognize that the system is fundamentally the player here. It just tut tuts at people doing what they are supposed to do in the system and hoping for liberal reforms.

That it cannot even bother to actually lay out. That's how impotent liberalism has become.

that's pretty normal, most articles never really recognize the root issue and instead push some reformist agenda

Yes, oligarchies are the result of people of people using their capital to control others. Capitalism is new as an explicit economic system by which to organize society, but capital is as old as agriculture, when people became able to stockpile food and dictate the course of other's lives on the basis of the property they owned. Similarly socialism is far older Marx, I mean just take a look at what Jesus said and did - he's was a total extreme leftist revolutionary.
