I just got a new job teaching at a preK for autistic little ones down near Coney island. My phone keeps trying to auto correct autistic to caustic and that is exactly the kind of systemic bigotry we fight every day.

get that OUT of my face posted:AHRC was founded in the late '40s when "retarded" wasn't the insult that it is now. also i've heard vague accusations about them being bad but when i worked there, that wasn't in my jurisdiction That's about the size of it on the language thing. People were saying retarded instead of moron or idiot, which were the previous medical terms and then we got mentally challenged and developmentally delayed and the 31 flavors of specifically diagnosable mental pathologies. I haven't heard much of anything up or down about AHRC. I think about any school (that isn't a blood sucking anti-worker charter school) can be good given the people that work there genuinely give a poo poo.
