"Hey, don't put capture a guy!"
...Well I've got to put something!
I've been interested in what's involved in becoming a Semi-truck driver. How does someone get into the field?
Is it as simple as taking your CDL Class A test, passing, then applying for jobs? What about trucking schools? Do you need to attend one in order to get into the industry?

For reference, I'm in Texas, and I would potentially take a CDL test here. I have a clean driving history, accident free for 15+ years.

Anyone have experience as a semi driver? How did you like living and working on the road? It seems like an interesting field for someone that isn't tied down, enjoys driving, and likes to travel in the U.S.
