Vor ponders a moment, and then lifts the guard off the ground, letitng him trail behind him.

"Come, Khrad. We're owed a meeting with whoever is in charge of these feckless scum."

He picks up the pad, and rings for the attendant again, intent on getting a meeting with the Sith in charge of this facility.

Recalling the Attendant and demanding a meeting with the Lead Interrogator Dude In Charge Guy, and bringing in this guard as a mostly living witness. Sith Inquisitor +2 for whatever good it does!

You reach out with the Force, attempting to rip the information you desired out of her mind before Sorken finished his meal. What you get is fragmentary, but surprising. It would seem that the apprentice was indeed a servant of Lord Arzanon, but from what memories you can pull together it would seem she had been investigating a possible leak of security information at her master’s behest. Your open transmission was one of the first major leads, and so she was sent to attempt to learn what you knew and if appropriate take you in for questioning.

It would seem that the late night meetings and off-world transmissions were all related to Lord Arzanon’s own investigation, coordinating his spies on and off-world. He was even now searching for the hidden ship you had visited in orbit.

Sorken seems satisfied as he finishes off the last of the apprentice's life-force. You can feel a difference in him, he seems a bit more present than he did before. “I will see to it.”

Vor'drosai Fiirkan - Interrogation Room C, Sith Academy, Korriban

The attendant enters the room not long after you summon him. He seems shocked to see the body of the guard floating in your grip, especially as Khrad was clearly not subtle when extracting information from him. You, however, manage to completely steamroll the attendant, forcing him to agree to contact Inquisitor Zyn. You don’t wait to hear the results, instead heading towards Zyn’s office the floating bleeding body of the guard floating behind you.

The door opens when you arrive, and you see a man sitting behind a desk. From his title he is clearly not a Lord, but you can feel his presence in the Force nonetheless.

“Ah.” he says, his voice smooth with a crisp upper-class Dromund Kass accent. “You must be the Initiate my adjutant was so hurriedly messaging me about.” He seems faintly bemused at your brashness. “Now, what is so important that you would interrupt my work?” There is a threat there, nothing so crude as to be made explicit, but you sense that earning Zyn’s ire would not be wonderful for your health.

Zef was briefly guilty about the death of the Kabrak. Then he reminded himself that she had been a terrible negotiator and marched into a trap. Had she asked questions instead of making threats they both would be better off right now. He began to clean up traces of his own investigation and data cache before departing to the medical ward to be treated for the wound. When asked he would state, "It was a training accident. There is no time to waste. He needs a secluded room." with a wave of his hand.

“My… lord,” Vor ventures, and effects a respectful bow. Probably appropriate enough for his position. “Pardon my intrusion. This guard just shot a prisoner, my prisoner, on orders from an anonymous benefactor. A Sith, I believe. He, and every guard here it seems, takes bribes from and reports to someone else. Possibly the same someone else. And considering this someone else is apparently plotting to attack the Reclamation Service Team set to arrive within the week, I do hope you can understand my… insistence.”

Zyn seems intrigued, “Your saying this worm tried to silence a prisoner in an interrogation?” He looks over the bleeding wreckage of the guard like someone examining an insect.

“Succeeded, I’m afraid. Put a blaster bolt through the slave’s chest, during the commotion caused by the alarm. That prisoner had been trained to resist interrogation, interestingly enough.”

Zyn is further intrigued by this new revelation. “A slave trained enough to resist an initiate? Either his training was solid or you are incompetant. Describe your methods.”

Vor describes his interrogation process in as much detail as Zyn requires.

Zym seems to nod along. “Seems fairly standard, though to lose control like that is something for the battlefield not the interrogation chamber. What is practiced here is one of the more subtle arts of the Sith, something you would do well to learn. However, that sort of slip up is not sufficient to have allowed your prisoner to resist. No, from what you described this is worrying indeed. Based on the prisoner’s reactions this does not seem like any of the Sith techniques I am privy to. Rather this sounds like the reaction one might expect to find from someone trained in the more advanced forms of resistance by Imperial Intelligence. How in the Emperor’s name would some rebel slave learn such advanced techniques…”

“I won’t make that mistake again, my lord. But… Imperial Intelligence? Mmm. I expect it is too much to hope that you might know of a likely suspect, but it never hurts to ask. And if it is not too bold, any advice on breaking through such training would be most helpful. I expect this will not be the first subject I’ll find with such training, if Imperial Intelligence is involved in any capacity…,” he pauses to consider. “...is this training uniquely indicative of Imperial Intelligence, or could the be Republic involvement?”

“I doubt the Republic is involved. Aiming for a domestic rebellion targeting a tomb is a bit too low-key to be worth the risk of SIS involvement. No, I doubt the Republic would risk a break of the Treaty for what would be to them such a meager prize. Especially since I have no doubt that if the SIS were attempting wetwork on Korriban it would already be known and dealt with. The Dark Council would not risk losing face in such a way. No, this is Imperial training, and not the type they hand out to their more common assets either. As for who is responsible, I do not know. However, your information is troubling. I will need to report it to the head of the Academy, and make some inquiries of my own. You have done well to bring this to my attention, and I will make sure you are mentioned in my report.”

Vor effects another respectful bow. “Most generous, my lord. In the meantime, I will continue my investigation. I’m sure someone will know who might have the information I need.” He looks to the bloody guard. “Shall I leave him in your expert care, my lord?”

“Yes. I will have to make an example of him to remind the others that while I will permit them to disperse information in the interests of keeping the appetites of various lords satiated that disrupting the order of my pens will not be tolerated.”

Vor took a minute to ponder. Imperial Intelligence? Sounds bad. The other, angrier initiate should probably be warned, and it'd been a minute since he'd seen the guy, anyway. Might be time to check in and make sure he hasn't gone and beaten him to the punch, so to speak.

You make your way to the infirmary, the pain from your hand and your side like a buzzsaw in your brain. The infirmary is about average for a facility of this size, though considering the high injury rate among initiates and slaves it seems smaller than what would be necessary. Nevertheless you can tell it is well funded and equipped. After you enter, you approach the attendent on duty.

He seems nonplussed at your injury, no doubt he has seen as much or worse before. He is about to ask you to slot in your identicard when, drawing on the jagged emotions born from your pain, you bludgeon his mind with the Force. It takes more effort than you initially guessed, but in the end you are successful. He escorts you to a Kolto tank. It is not in a private room, those are reserved for people far more important than mere initiates, but considering the full breathing apparatus you’ll need to wear it’s unlikely anyone would recognize you.

You change, enter the tank and then the anesthetics kick in and you fade into a dreamless sleep…

A few hours later you awaken as the medical droid monitoring the kolto tank drains yours. Your hand still feels a bit stiff, and your side a bit raw, but the kolto has worked its magic and you have full use of your facilities. You’ll likely need to leave quickly, it’ll only be so long until some med-tech realizes that you don’t have a chart and starts asking questions you don’t want to answer.

Vor'drosai Fiirkan - Prison Area, Sith Academy, Korriban

While you know that Kier had been investigating the weapons, you do not know which of the dozens of armories serving the wide variety of Imperial troops serving the academy he might have headed for. Rather than risk taking days to scope out each one, you find it easier to try and back track. Reviewing the nets you had access to as an Initiate, you track down a report of Platoon of Imperial troops that had very recently deployed to the location where you located the hidden weapons cache. By digging a bit deeper you manage to locate the comm frequency of its commanding officer, a Lieutenant Harok.

You contact him on your comm.

He seems vaguely familiar. “How can I help you, my lord?” His tone is polite, which since you have not yet identified yourself as a Sith is somewhat surprising.

“Yes, this is Initiate Vor. I am looking to track down the source of a weapons cache discovered in the hands of slaves. An associate of mine may have already spoken to you, in which case this will go much faster. Large angry guy. Looks like hell.”

"Ah, you must be Kier's associate. After we went were able to identify the weapons, he went to investigate the armory where they were still listed as being located."

“I see. Please forward me any information that you have. I’m afraid the situation is apparently a bit more complicated than slaves making trouble.”

"I will do so, my lord, and I will contact you when I hear back from Kier." You can see him press a few keys and a report is transmitted to your comm. "Is there anything else I can do to assist, my lord?"

“That should do for now, thank you.”

Harok closes the comm channel.

Vor hmms. "Time to go, Khrad. Don't let them forget to give back your gun."

Now that the injuries were managed Zef needed to arm himself. The Armory for the Academy itself would be no use. It would be monitored closely. His best bet would be one of the ones for the Sith Troops. He pulled up the map on his datapad and listened to the force. One in particular stood out as ripe for his purposes. On the way out of the facility, Khrad retrieved his weapon from the storage area, and then the pair of you made your way to the location specified in Lieutenant Harok’s data. This was one of the minor armories primarily serving the various scouting corps. This makes sense, as from reviewing the data the majority of the weapons recovered in the cache were scout carbines. From Harok’s report it’s clear that this was not an accident, he describes them as light, easy to teach, and easy to maintain. The perfect weapon for a rebellion of slaves with no formal military training.

The building itself seems unassuming, but before you can enter you sense something in the Force. Turning you see another person approaching the armory. From their dress, they are a fellow Initiate, though their robes have seen better days, with a singed hole in the site and other burn marks on the right arm.

Zef Arkada - Sith Academy, Korriban

You head towards the armory, letting the Force guide you. From what you could make out from the directory, this armory was one of several that was intended to serve the various scouting patrols sent out to keep watch on the surrounding areas and control the local animal populations. They likely would have gear more suited to that than training sabers and sith robes. Still, considering your own robes still showed the damage from your fight with Lord Arzanon’s apprentice, perhaps now was not the time to be picky.

When you arrive at the site, to your surprise there is another Sith about to enter the armory. From their robes it’s clear it is a fellow Initiate, however what truly stands out is their blue skin and head tails. You are aware that although the Academy technically will allow non-humans to attend, it is still extremely rare. They are accompanied by a trandoshan, though that one is not wearing Sith robes and seems to have a blaster carbine with them.

At the sight of the other initiate Zef smiled as if he was sizing up a new player in a Sabaac tournament. “Greetings fellow initiate. What brings you here?” He paused a beat before adding. “I am in need of new gear, and my visions told me this location might be best. Perhaps we are meant to assist one another.”

He looked to the Trandoshan “Or is he a doshing rancor like most the rest of these paranoid hardheads?”

Khrad remains silent, looking to Vor to take the lead. Any slave who survived long learned quickly not to get into the middle of a conversation between Sith if at all possible.

Vor glances up at Khrad, giving him a small shrug. He returns his attention to Zef. “I’m investigating some missing equipment,” he says, tone guarded.

Zef’s smile grew a bit wider. “Yet another security matter? I’ve noticed quite a few lapses myself. I’m investigating too, probably a separate thing but maybe our investigations will dovetail. In any case I need to resupply and I need no new enemies here.” He moved to enter the Armory.

With Vor’s aquience, the pair entered the armory. Inside was not what you might have expected. Rather than troops or maintenance personnel, inside were a team of what were clearly Imperial Intelligence. A man who was clearly their commander upon seeing you enter, approaches.

“Halt, this area is closed by order of the Ministry of Intelligence under the authority of Darth Jadis.”

Zef nodded at the man. "That is why we are here. It seems this site is the subject of many security investigations. We will need to review the manifests. Thank you for your cooperation." He exuded an air of authority while turning to Vor to see if he had anything to add.

Vor merely raised an eyebrow before turning his attention to the soldier. “I’m sorry, did you say Ministry of Intelligence? Hmm. I’m here regarding missing blasters. They were taken from this armory. I believe an associate of mine has already been here; big. Angry. Scarred. Kier, I think it was.” Vor furrows his brow suddenly. “Speaking of which; are you the ranking officer here? Who is in charge of this lockdown?”

The officer looks askance at Zef’s obviously burned and battle damaged robes before Vor cuts in. Turning to face the Twi’lek, he responds. “I am Senior Investigator Dumont, and this area has been locked down on the order of Lord Rost who is acting on the direct authority of Darth Jadus. I’m afraid that I cannot disclose more than that. You can refer your superiors to Lord Rost if they have any questions.”

Vor ahs. “I assume you are aware of the investigation into the plot against the Archaeology team?”

“Yes, yes.” He responds. “That matter will be dealt with as well. Now, as I said, this area has been restricted by order of Lord Rost. I cannot permit you to enter.”

Zef piped up, with a more serious tone than before. “Is Lord Arzanon aware of this? There seems to be abundant infractions recently.” He began to take in the room, looking around at the layout and security measures. (Looking for cameras.)

“As I mentioned before, this lockdown is on the personal order of Lord Rost, who will be arriving from Dromund Kass shortly. Lord Azanon may be tasked with security for the Academy, but my Lord is acting on an urgent matter for Darth Jadus himself. Lord Arzanon has been informed, but he will have no part in this matter. Now, I really must insist you move along.”

The room seems fairly standard leaving you to assume the normal security and surveillance equipment would be present. However, still being in the entrance area you can’t really see more than that without actually entering.

Vor just stares at the officer. “Are you the traitor inside Imperial Intelligence, Senior Investigator Dumont?” (Using the Force to sense LIES/Emotions/Whatever)

Dumont’s initial reaction is outrage, “How dare you!” You can sense that his reaction seems genuine, a burst of anger, but as he gets past that his eyes narrow as he realizes something. “You, what do you know?” There is a subtle movement as he surreptitiously presses a button on the comm at his waist.

Vor just watches him coldly. “Mm. I know there is a plot to murder an Archaeology team and that I have been instructed to put and end to this plot. I know slaves have been recruited for this task. I know that some have been given Imperial Intelligence training to resist questioning, and that someone has been bribing the guards in the holding cells to silence my prisoners and halt my investigation. I know weapons were taken from this armory in order to arm these slaves. I know that someone in Imperial Intelligence with the means to teach slaves to resist torture is involved. I’m reasonably certain that someone isn’t you. Or at least, you don’t work for them.” He glances up at Khrad.

“Have I forgotten anything?”

Khrad seems alarmed to be put on the spot like this in what appears to be a brewing conflict between you and Imperial Intelligence. He shakes his head and tries to fade back into the background.

You can feel the Imperial analyzing you as he looks back, taking the information you provided and fitting it into a wider puzzle. However, when you are finished you can sense a slight feeling of relief from him, clearly you didn’t have the piece he would have felt was most explosive. “Yes, this is an internal investigation into an intelligence asset acting without authorization. We have already reviewed the reports on the cache and the planned attack on the Survey Corps team. You have my assurances that appropriate steps are being taken to deal with those.”

Zef chuckled at the intelligence officers assurances. "It may be his task to bring back more than assurances. Perhaps he will settle for a commendation on his investigative work by your Lord or the Darth himself. I am also on the trail of a traitor. Perhaps the very one you seek. Have you discovered the Ship receiving unauthorized communications yet?" Zef leaned on the doorway and itched his side.

Vor turns his attention to Zef, and folds his arms, clearly interested.

That grabs Dumont’s attention, “What ship?”

Zef chuckled. "Ah. I think I will be moving along. You obviously have this under control. We could not *possibly* be of any assistance."

You can see the man calculating, but he makes no move to prevent you from leaving.

Zef gave Vor a nod and then turned to leave. (Unless stopped I leave the convo)

Vor returns his attention to the officer, just waiting to see how it plays out.

Dumont takes no action.

Vor sighs. “We both would, no doubt, like to get back to our work. It would be...easier if we worked together on this. I’m sure you know how… persistent Initiates can be.”

“Certainly, if you come across any additional information I will be happy to note it in my report, but given the circumstances allowing you full access to this investigation is a decision that would need to be approved by Lord Rost.”

Vor mmmms, internalizing his annoyance. “Then submit the request if you must. But I don’t need full or unrestricted access. I’m seeking specific information at the moment; a fellow Initiate named Kier came here to follow up on the missing weapons. I would like to speak to who he spoke to and learn what he learned.”

“I am afraid that is impossible at this time. Lord Rost has taken personal command of this matter, and access is permitted by his authorization only. This is a matter of Imperial security with authority stemming from the Dark Council itself.”

Vor rolls his eyes and gestures dismissively. “Nevermind, it’s clear I’m wasting my time here.”

Dumont permits you to leave unopposed, and turns back to his work.

Composing himself, he turns to fully regard the Trandoshan. “Alright, time for plan B. We’ve met Kier before, and if the man smells as distinctive as he looks, I expect you’ll be able to track him passably well. Between your nose and the Force, we should be able find out where he went and talk to him myself.”

Without access into the armory itself, Khrad has to search around for a bit before he can catch what he believes to be Kier’s scent. It heads in the direction of the major settlement near the academy where many of the people who work at the academy or its garrison live or spend what liesure time they have. Once you reach the settlement, Kier loses the trail.

“Sorry master,” he says, “There’s just been too many people through here.”

However, it soon turns out that not much more fine detail tracking is needed. It seems the settlement is all a titter about an incident earlier that day. From eavesdropping on various discussions you learn that apparently scarred Sith chased a woman through one of the main streets causing quite a commotion in the process. The rumors only ratcheted up even higher after Imperial authorities descended on the scene in force, detaining many witnesses for questioning.

Zef Arkada - Sith Academy, Korriban

You return to the academy proper, heading to the equipment storage area you approach a desk. Before you even have a chance to say anything the imperial behind the desk takes a good look at you, almost imperceptibly sighs and then heads into a back room. She’s back a moment later with a training saber and some new robes. It’s very clear from her demeanor that you are not the first Initiate who has come in after managing to lose or destroy their equipment, probably not even the first today.

You attempt to review the security footage from the area using your Sith credentials. Everything seems normal until you get to the time chop you were looking for. Then you run into a screen informing you that the areas in question are classified above your level. However, not all is in vain, for you can gain some information just by looking at what is absent. From what footage is blocked, you can get a general feel of the timing and direction of the disturbance. It would appear to have started at a local cantina, proceeded through various alleys, before running along one of the main thoroughfares. Judging by Senior Investigator Dumont’s presence and the level of security on the recordings, it would seem whatever happened here has drawn the attention of some powerful people indeed.

Zef Arkada - Sith Academy, Korriban

Using the information in the database, you manage to learn where Lord Arzanon currently resides. It is a tower some distance out from the Academy proper. It is fairly easy to “borrow” a speeder bike and make your way to the tower. Once you arrive, your precognitive sense combined with complete information of the guards’ rotation from the database make it child’s play to avoid them. It’s almost too easy.

You make your way to the cantina, it is half empty and the atmosphere is quiet and subdued. Once you are noticed, it gets even quieter. It’s clear from the general state of things that Imperial Security has been through here. Things seem to have been cleaned up from some earlier commotion. There’s some staff as well as some patrons, none seem eager to gain your attention.

She was always foolhardy for an apprentice to best her… unexpected.” He pauses for a moment as if considering something.

“It would appear that you are a talent worth acquiring and as I am now in need of an apprentice, I would be very interested in hearing how you would propose to proceed with identifying the source of this leak and closing it off permanently.”

Vor'drosai Fiirkan - Settlement, Korriban

Khrad attempts to insinuate himself into various conversations. Watching from a distance it’s almost painful how bad he is at this. It would seem that social skills weren’t his strong point. Though it appears that your presence may be helping the situation, it was clear you had come in together after all and few people on the planet wanted to get on the wrong side of a Sith. You were clearly trying to play nice, and none of them wanted to risk that ending. So despite his rather halting efforts, Khrad was able to extract some degree of information.

Apparently, another Sith had been in here earlier. You hear one drunk describe second hand that apparently the Sith had been laying low until a woman had noticed him, then she bolted and he left in hot pursuit. Sometime later, Imperial Security had been all over this place, but they had left as quickly as they came, though not before grabbing some of the staff who had been present at the time.

Vor rejoins Khrad once he had struggled enough.

"Perhaps now that we know where to begin, following the trail will be easier. Doesn't hurt to make sure, though."

Using Sith Inquisitor +2 to follow up on the information Khrad obtained. Was the woman a regular, did anyone know her or know her name, etc.

If Khrad +2 can pick up the scent of either Kier or Mystery Woman, we'll follow that definitely.

Lord Arzenon sits back in his chair somewhat pensive. “For it to be Solence would be exceptionally foolish, even for him. There is clearly something happening here as Darth Jadus has sent an emissary to investigate. That this much data could be leaked under my watch is an embarrassment I cannot permit. These leaks must be plugged, and plugged before Jadus’ investigators learn of this. You have already found more in a day than my most trusted agents have in weeks you are either incredibly talented or beloved by the Force. For my immediate purposes it doesn’t matter to me which. So you will have whatever resources you require to resolve this quickly and quietly. If at the end I am impressed by your efforts, I will take you on as an apprentice.”

He looks to you to see your response to his offer.

Your investigation is hampered by the fact that it would appear that Imperial Intelligence had already picked up the most likely candidates for knowing if your target frequented the bar. Still, by broadening your search to more unlikely candidates you manage to piece together a few drunken ramblings. It would appear that a few of the barflies had seen someone of that description a few times before. She would usually drink at one of the back tables with one of several different people. It was never long, but other than that nothing about her or her activity really stood out.
