The Board Room at the End of the Universe, was nearly. Most of the egg chairs, and even the last piece of Mahogany wood had been removed from it for seating room. At one end of the room, stood The Director a human, some say the last Human at the end of the universe. Her dark features framed by a natural halo of cloud like black hair. In her hand is a laser pointer, which she uses to point at diagrams on the screen. The windowless board room seemed oppressive in it's emptiness. And for a brief second, she allowed herself a moment of concern, before quickly getting started for those who did show. "I'd like to personally thank every Agent that made the trip out to the end of the universe for this debriefing. I know the trip was unpleasant, but it was imperative that you are here. Time Crimes are expanding every day, and we don't have the resources to fix them all. I'd like to remind you all about the recruitment drive. If you know anyone in the universe who is willing to become an unkillable avatar for everything that is good and righteous in the world, please send them our way. Now with that out of the way. Let us begin. Your Destination Era will be during the ruling of the Wise Octomire King Alonious. We're reading an unprecedented levels famine, causing world strife. For some reason, the people in this sector have stopped making food. And we don't know why. Your first task once you hit planet side, will be to scour the world for why there is a famine, and stop it." "The famine started approximately 5 years before the closest node we have. People are going to be desperate, so make sure you pack your weapons." She said, "and keep your eyes on, the AI we got for this mission... Well they're all a bit more eccentric than you may be used too. We've been really scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and make sure we have enough AI." She rolled her eyes and continued. "And remember, which ever team is the first to figure out what's wrong gets a pay bonus. As well as the first team to solve the problem." How does puff game work? posted:There will be 2 images every update, inside those images, will be drawings of your Agent, and the world around the agent that they can interact with. Every turn, 8 people will post 2 actions a piece. Turtlicious fucked around with this message at 19:47 on Apr 1, 2019 |

Recursion is a multiplayer CYOA. Where 2 teams of goons are placed into a dying world tasked with fixing it. There are 2 types of players in Recursion, Agents and Supports. You come from a secret group outside of Time and Space simply called “The Agency.” Agents are investigatory units created with the soul purpose of rooting out quantum anomalies. Any time Agents are summoned to a world, it is because that world’s timeline has been changed drastically in some way. The Agents will know very little at first, maybe a blurb and a few pictures, but by Inspecting and Looking For Trouble, they will get clues (or be told outright,) to tell them exactly why they are there. They’ll need a lot of help to do that, and that help comes from Supports Supports are Confiscated AI repurposed for the Agency’s goals. Creating an AI, is both highly illegal, and highly profitable. It was decided by the Agency’s Bylaws that any AI created before the singularity, should be confiscated for support work. Your AI will have a previous job, Whether it’s a program to write orcish shakespeare, or a spooky movie algorithm, there will be some attachment to your previous job that colors everything you do. This is called your “gimmick” a way to denote what makes your AI unique. Always keep your gimmick in mind. Supports help by Identifying Tasks, Crafting items, and donating pixels to Agents of their choice. It is a less active roll, but also an important one. The game play of which, is controlled just like any other CYOA, you select options, (or write in your own,) and watch how the world reacts. The game takes place over two halves. There are always 2 NPC Support’s, there will always be at least 2 AI every game that are controlled by me. This is to make sure that if people are lost, problems can be identified right away to get people into the thick of it. The OverMap is a hex grid that shows you a general overview of what the scene will look like if you were to place an observer pool there. Every Update will have 2 scenes drawn. One for each observer pool. Every Agent in the game will be in one of these 2 scenes. Use the OverMap to figure out, on agrandscale where you need to go, and then use the Observer Pools to actually interact with the world The Gameplay loop of puffs is simple, every player posts 2 actions and rolls a 1d100 for each action, then I draw the scene with everyone’s actions in the update, based on those actions and rolls. Then the scene reacts to you, giving you new prompts for actions. Meanwhile, you’ll be gaining EXP from completing quests, which will make you stronger. People watching the thread can sign up as Support’s specialized AI that create quests for the Agent’s to complete. Agent Rules Character Creation Pick one of the races; “Puff” “Felid” “Octomire” “Balsinian” “Gnoll” “Intru”, pick a name, and post. Anyone who makes a puff with a backstory or a tie to any character in the game will get an additional 10 pixels for their first post, putting them halfway to level 2! Each Race has the following skills including their own special skills, which will be explained later in their stat breakdown post. Talking is always a free action, any unit can talk to anyone. If you need to have a complicated conversation, message me on Discord, and we’ll play it out in real time until you’ve decided the conversation has gone it’s course. Agent’s speak without mouths, They instead use psychic links to have conversation. This is great for 1:1 conversations, but makes it almost impossible for 2 Agent’s and a unit to have a group conversation, instead, the unit will have 2 conversations, separate from each other. Conversations between people in the Agent’s presence happens almost instantaneously, seemingly, outside of time. Generic Actions for Agents
Half of the Creatures have a time when they can be the most effective, and a time where they are least effective. Felid’s are night creatures, Puffs are Sun creatures, Octomires are Twilight Creatures, Balsinians, Intru and Gnolls are subterranean species that ignore the Time of day. Agent Races

Support Rules As a Support you’re a dedicated poo poo poster, and goons, I want my shitposts. Every Support has 3 aspects about them, an image, to represent how they manifest themselves in their housings, A gimmick, a unique goal that the Support will focus on above anything else, a Task list, a list of Tasks in the world that they’d like to see accomplished. And an item list, a list of items they have created. The image you select is how your AI chooses to manifest itself when observed. It’s a core aspect of your character, as it represents what your AI is like and about. The Gimmick, is the job your AI had before, it is your Plot hook, its your driving force, it is the kind of AI that your Support used to be. Say your gimmick was “Theme Park Designer,” than it would be expected that all of your tasks would be things relevant to an AI that wants to run a theme park some day. Pushing people’s limits to figure out what safety thresholds are acceptable. Or acting to act in a way that would come to a thrilling conclusion. If for example your gimmick was “Haunted Movie Creator,” Than you would want to see what makes things frightening. Or you may want to see what dangerous situations scare people. Maybe you need to know the exact blood splatter of an array of weapons. It’s your unique gimmick, go hog wild, I will very rarely tell you that you’re doing something wrong. If you enjoy your gimmick and it makes sense to you, than that’s how you should post! Here are a list of example gimmicks that you can use! Gimmicks posted:Theme Park Designer The Task List, is the mechanics part of being a Support. Every time you post, draw something, or create a task, you get pixels. You then use these pixels to spur on the Agent you most connected with. Posts get you 1 pixel Art Gets you 15 pixels Completed tasks, Give you 50 pixels Every task you make, Will have a different pixel amount to award the puff based on difficulty. Easy to complete Tasks will give less pixels to puffs than difficult task. To create a task, figure out what your gimmick, and then make a post, I will quote every Support post, so if you see me forget you let me know! Example posted:Here are some example tasks to look at that might help Every Item You Create, Costs 10 to make the first time, and then it’s assigned cost after that. Items you created you get for half off. It costs 25 to upgrade an item, and an item can only be upgrades once. It costs 15 to combine two items together to get a new item. You have creative input all over the items you are creating, and we will discuss together mechanically the easiest way to do it. Once you’ve given me an idea, and I think I have got a good idea for it, I will post it in thread, where it will be revealed to you and everyone else at once. Creating items that help Agents is important, as it’s one of the only 2 ways you can interact with them, (the other being giving them pixels.) Every Building, Item and Spell, in the game has “Tags,” If you’re unfamiliar with a tag system, tags are just codified Abilities and effects to make combining items and spells easier. Every Tag has a cost on it’s own, and by combining Spell and Item tags you can create abilities more powerful than anyone had ever thought possible. You can also come up with your own tag, if those you’ve seen so far are insufficient. Example Items posted:Here are some items, you might create to do the above! I will always quote a post that has mechanics in it, to signify to the player that they have been seen. I also have one of the worst memories on earth. So please scour my updates to make sure I didn’t forget you. If I did, I’ll fix it. Flip side of that same coin, I expect everyone to help out new players and keep me accountable if I forget something. Turtlicious fucked around with this message at 19:21 on Apr 1, 2019 |

There will be 2 images every update, inside those images, will be drawings of your Agent, and the world around the agent that they can interact with. Every turn, 8 people will post 2 actions a piece. Those actions get drawn out, and becomes the update. The update will also have drawings of other people in that same image, all of your actions will be drawn out, and then I write up how people reacted to said actions. All you need to do to play, is select 1 race that seems interesting to you, and then post your actions when the game starts.

Question for the 5 people here, we can start with1 person in each observer pool, and wait for other agents and supports to join, or we can give it another week and see how close to 8 we can get. What would you all prefer? (I'm leaning towards start now, and let people join later.)
