There's gonna be a murder. I've worked in government for a long time and this is 100% correct. Not sure why but so many people are just itching to snipe each other over made up slights. I'm sorry that Jeremy coughed while in the bathroom but maybe don't email his working group about it. That's why I've tried my best to keep my head down and not get mixed up in the social politics of it all. It's cost me promotions in the past and I'm totally okay with that. It's also wild to get out of that environment and look back. There were times I thought I was being reasonable but the toxic cloud around everything made it and me horrible. I had a manager that seriously did nothing but pick apart emails and send out his corrections to everyone. Eventually we cut him out of all communications and he filed an official grievance with the head office. Writing up our rational was a fun minefield.

the head of my department sits in the cubicle behind me and has loud phone conversations all day. when we speak, he distorts things my coworkers have said to make it seem like there is a Big Conflict, when in fact he just doesn't listen to people. and he refers to himself in third person.
