I was watching simpsons at 0.75 without knowing until a scene where homer and bart were getting back massages at a hotel and the noises they were making were super drawn out like a youtube poop
Enigma plays in my head automatically during shroom trips. I'm pretty sure Cretu did tons of LSD anyway.

Enya reminds me of my granddad.

He was a pretty strict Granddad but my Nan is soft as anything (most of the time) so it was compensated. I used to love listening to Enya in his Volvo V50 Estate (might be different model, can't quite remember) when we were on road trips, sometimes I would get to be the front passenger and he'd always try to wind me up by subtly putting my seat heater on and me trying to do it to him. There was this one road trip we were on where I decided it would be a good idea to pull on the door handle when we were cornering (I was under 7 years old). I grabbed the door really tight as it nearly swung and hit a brick wall and managed to keep it from doing so; pulling me a bit out of the car. It terrified me for all of the obvious reasons and more. I expected an absolute bollocking from my Granddad and my father to beat me (which was pretty typical, child abuse yay!) but the former didn't happen, he was the one person to console me after we pulled over. I still don't know why I did it; I guess just being a child?

When we lived in England we would semi-regularly visit forests (Forest of Dean, Cirencester Park etc. ) and other various outdoor places and I remember a day when we were playing cops and robbers when I was about 5 and it was such an amazing day. I remember my granddad getting out of breath chasing after us and thought he was just giving up (because we were so good) but he actually spent years in the mines as an electrical engineer so his lungs were pretty hosed.

Anyway, I miss my granddad and Enya reminds me of him every time I hear her songs. Thanks for reading my granddad story.

I know it's not Enya but can we please talk about how good that delirium song with sarah mclachlan is? The ambient quality and Sarah's voice remind me of Enya so I thought of that because of this thread. My apologies in advance if this thread is Enyas only, I'm not sure of the rules of her castle besides more cats.

Sarah McLachlan is the poo poo and “Surfacing” was what I put in my high school yearbook as my favorite album of 2001. :3:

Personally, I think Enya's the musical equivalent of being offered a snack or drink you don't hate but wouldn't actively buy if you had the choice.

Listening to Enya makes me have this odd feeling of simultaneously being pulled in to, and out of, a dissociative episode; like two different tides are pulling on me from the directions of Outwards and Inwards, makes my sensory evaluation of 'okay yeah this is happening now' totally gently caress itself sideways and I need a nap afterwards.

In like 1994 this stuff was played on the radio. It's weird to think of! Like, now people would say 'no, this is drum and bass, and this is house, and this is ambient' but all of this sorta ~techno~ music was all over. So crazy. Then everyone decided to call it EDM...when in reality it's all disco to begin with!

Except Enya. She would've been called 'world music' then. Music you get massaged to and have playing in the background of polite wine parties.

Some of her stuff made it on the alternative stations where I lived in California. At least Caribbean Blue and Orinoco flow did.

i’ve watched a dozen millennial programmer/tech type guys woo/marry an edgy pink haired full sleeve tattooed vaguely alternative girl here in the bay area and over the course of as little as three years they’re both chubby middle aged conformist schlubs with a toddler or two, and bloated wifey is rocking “I want to talk to your manager” hair

like it was all an act to land a spouse and sip lattes for a living and drive an suv

lol its 2019 and you are in the bay area. people with pink hair and tattoos were already conformists in the first place, it wasn't an "act" anymore than buying an suv. dyed hair and tattoos haven't been considered edgy for decades, literally every other cop in the bay area has tons of tattoos and like my extremely normie dentist receptionist had pink hair when i was a kid
