So one weird thing that seems to have flown under the radar was Bernie's comment about 'rotating judges' in reference to the Supreme Court as some sort of alternative to packing the court. Haven't seen any comments on it but seemed really out of left field in terms of thinking on how to handle the conservative majority.

Legislating on a subject should require some technical familiarity, but instead, both sides tend to like to speak in inaccurate sweeping platitudes to appease their bases while sounding like idiots to everyone else. I don’t trust someone who talks about ghost guns and fully automatic assault clips to write good legislation on gun safety just like I wouldn’t trust someone who talks about “legitimate rape” or “fetal pain” to do the same with reproductive rights. Succdems get really pissed off when you point out this similarity.

Well I think the big issue has been the pro-gun side being a stick-in-the-mud about absolutely no legislation so the people who are left to legislate have no idea about guns.

Everybody talked about stopping the next school shooter but nobody talked about any of the things that happen more often than lightning strikes like petty crime with stolen pistols to feed yourself or white nationalist terror attacks. Also Biden and his ~smart guns~ There’s definitely a lot of good comparisons between guns and abortion and how the opposing party will gleefully speak from ignorance and criticize anybody who tries to correct/inform them. There’s also a lot of lack of follow through that ends up just victimizing the poor, women, and minorities. Ban all guns of a certain type but they’re not the ones murdering women and children every day, oh well you’re safe now citizen just call the police. Ban abortion but now women have to carry to term even when it kills them or they can’t afford to feed and house the child, oh well the baby is sacred now pull yourself up by your bootstraps. I believe it’s pretty reasonable to have some reluctance to compromise on an issue when the other side of the coin is being lead by people using phrases like “the body has ways to shut things down” and “weapons of war with assault clips”. If both groups would sit down and shut up and let knowledgeable advocates for their position lead the conversation it wouldn’t be half as bad. When reasonable people are trying to say “we’re not going to take all of your guns” but Feinstein and other national politicians are openly saying “our goal is to keep tightening restrictions until we take all of the guns” it’s a serious problem. Nobody is going to trust you. Also abolish the NRA and give your money to SAF or Socialist Rifle Association or John Brown Gun Club or Pink Pistols or something

I wish they'd all just shut the gently caress up about guns because I want to know what their economic, infrastructure, and foreign policies are. Any major gun control laws are gonna end up in the Supreme Court anyway where the R majority will cite the 2nd so it doesn't loving matter, change something useful.
