I always wondered what those racers deal with after a crash. Is it just a big bruise from where they slid for a few hundred feet? Do they have a burn from the friction heat of the slide transferring through the clothes?

Dang, that's actually a really good question

I mean it really depends on the circumstances of the crash. They could easily have broken bones from contact with their bikes, other bikes or the track in the original fall. The slide is definitely going to create some friction between suit and skin, you can actually get an open wound/scrape like that EVEN IF there is no tear in the suit and it works as intended. Basically it's not a good time and they're gonna be pretty banged up afterwards; how much depends on the circumstances of the crash itself

Can confirm that I’ve gotten into an accident while riding my bicycle wearing a thick jacket and while the jacket had no scrapes/etc on it, my arm was all scraped up when I took the jacket off later. Pretty weird to see, tbh.
