the game is beautiful to look at, but so far I haven't seen anything beyond the gorgeous visuals. the roadmap is also vague and I have enough to play these ays.

The Planet Crafter

A game I bought in early access came out. I quite like it. A chill game with no combat about terraforming a planet.

The same publisher released a game called Lightyear Frontier which I bought yesterday, and it sounds similar although less complex. You explore and restore the regions of the planet (cleaning, destroying noxious puddles, pulling weeds), mine and chop trees/cut down bushes, then go back to your camp and plant seeds, upgrade your camp, create fodder for the wildlife (which you can then use to feed the wildlife) and upgrade your mech. It's still in early access, but I'm already hooked on it. The only negative reviews I saw were from people who either completely ignored the game details and are now unreasonably upset ("Why no combat, why can't I fight with my mech") or people who've "finished" the game already, which I think means they've explored everything so they think they're done. So, completely missing the point of the game. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1677110/Lightyear_Frontier/

Apropos of pretty much nothing, I have been noticing what seem like, to me, paid reviews on smaller games on steam. I will see a brand new indie game and it will have ten to twenty one to two-line reviews with no actual details about the game. The type of generically positive stuff that could apply to just about anything. I'm not exactly surprised, but I just wanted to mention that it's something I've been seeing more of recently. I will always advise people to actually read the steam reviews rather than just take the numbers at face value.

unless you wanna save 4 bucks on No Rest for the Wicked I'll toss in my two cents
Its gorgous, the thing thats hard to convey from the video is that 2d looking sketched look is in fact 3d objects with amazing texture work
the combat need fine tuning, its neat but its a pain in the rear end to aim properly things that are line attacks
the gameplay however is a sharp mix of ye olde dark souls and some context ocerna of time jumping and such
the world is like souls not completely open world but has multiple paths many of witch are hidden
my 3080 was at 100% gpu usage
multiplayer is not in but coming soon
Multiplayer could make this a hoot as the ragdoll is fantastic.
also coming off of diablo 4 (yeah i know) this actually has nice environmental design and has excellent foreground elements to make the world feel more alive (lookin at you diablo)

Yes, Clockwork Empires, a Dwarf Fortress-like which is a genre that famously does not take much time at all to finish, is equivalent to a same but more so sequel to a game that released out of Early Access in a reasonable time.

I found it much weaker than the first one. The gameplay loop is different, a lot more moving around from location to location and dying to jump scares. The length is about the same as the first one (~2-3 hours), but because of this change there's a lot less content in terms of story. Also has some intermittent performance issues, but nothing too bad. Overall not horrible, but I'd suggest waiting for a discount.

I'll be honest I thought Hundred Heroes was pretty dull and incredibly slow-moving in the first hour or two. Then after I recruited a couple heroes I had no guidance after that and couldn't find anyone else to recruit or a single worthwhile thing to do so I gave up. The combat is also just not that interesting, I was hoping for some kind of twist to make it more interesting. Combat also takes a long time and it seemed the whole thing was just sluggish and wasting my time. Maybe it gets better later or, more likely, it's just not for me
