Japanese, especially in Kansai for some reason, uses a ton of onomatopoeia. It cracks me up sometimes how broadly it can be used. Zaazaa is the sound of heavy rain. People will just say that sound in a sentence to indicate heavy rain. Korokoro is the sound of a small item, such as a pencil, rolling. A large item, such as a log is gorogoro and can be used to say just like laying around the house doing nothing. Gachan is the sound of something slamming. Gachagacha is the sound of like clattering and pon is like a slapping or popping sound so those capsule toy machines are called gachapon. |

I'm really tired, and confused an onomatopoeia with a palindrome for a minute, and read through the first couple of posts thinking "wow those are really impressive!" then I looked back when things weren't adding up at all and was like "wait, no, I got it now". lol

i really like TONK, which is the sound of somebody in a movie getting hit in the head with something metal. hero will chuck a fire extinguisher at underling # 7 and the foley guy makes this wonderful TONK sound that makes me smile every time
