It's just another in a long line of dead Star Wars card games. What makes this one any different?

Dice. It adds a random element to the game in the form of Big Honking Dice. If you've seen dicemasters, this beats the pants off of that. Most of the permanents you put into play have dice associated with them. This randomness typically means that you aren't getting the optimal result when you play a card. The game compensates for this by giving you ways of getting to those results to maximize efficiency. However, the game is played in a "you take a turn, I take a turn" fashion, so after you roll dice, your opponent can interfere with your plans, or try to advance their own plans hoping you don't interfere with theirs after they do something.

There is an okay write-up in the old thread for it here:

The one thing this game has going for it now that it's dead is that you no longer have to pay the ridiculous CCG/TCG costs.

Why you should pick up this game:
- The games take about 30 minutes to play.
- The mechanics are simple enough an 8 year old will have no problem grasping it.
- The back and forth nature makes it feel like you are playing with your opponent, rather than having two people just playing solitaire across from each other.
- The dice are really well made (The images are lasered on, so no stickers that peel).
- The existing community is really nice. Likely because there were never any cash tournaments, so no assholes joined.
- It was announced the last expansion comes out in May, so everyone is selling off their collections. I'd imagine those collections will get cheaper and cheaper as time goes on. There is also a small chance that in 15 years the game will be worth more than you paid on ebay because of nostalgia.

Why you shouldn't pick it up:
You don't like card games or rolling dice.
Storing this game is annoying because the dice are abnormally large.
Since it's dead, what you get is what you get. If you love it, you get no more expansions.

Plus:
Like every card game in existence there was a constant power creep, making the new characters better than what came before. However, the last few people playing are working on balancing the old characters to be more in line with the new ones. If you buy it, I would recommend looking into those adjustments to have a better time.
