It’s February, the shortest month of the year! Of course, that means it’s Black History Month. This year in TGRS, we would like to try something different.

The Black Transwomen community in the United States has been on the front lines of Black rights, LGBT rights, Women’s rights and the intersection of all of them. Stonewall, for example, was lead by Marsha P Johnson, a black transwoman.

But being black, trans, and a woman is basically the convergence of several layers of oppression. There have been a lot of murdered transwomen over the past couple of years. And of course the majority of them black.

So this year we want to help raise money for the Transwomen of Color Collective, a nonprofit group run by and for Transwomen. They have a fund that helps women get off the street or help them escape abusive situations.

Our goal is to raise $3000 dollars for the organization. Goons have been extremely generous with their money over the years, so let’s do something awesome for one of the most marginalized communities in the United States.
