As a kind gesture while the music biz takes a hit thanks to that pesky virus going around: today, March 20, Bandcamp is waiving fees for artists. Anything you buy on Bandcamp today, the artist gets 100% of the sale, BC isn't taking any cut. A lot of musicians --- myself included --- have lost their day jobs, and this is the only way to make a lil' scratch right now. Those who do it for a living can't play gigs, because of venues shutting down. I know poo poo sucks all around, but if you still have a job, or some rainy day money, won't you consider helping us out? C'mon, you need something new to listen to while you're stuck in your house for the foreseeable future, right? Me, I make weird-rear end stuff ranging from click-hop to industrial to ambient soundscapes to noise. I make my own circuit-bent instruments, sample stuff like field recordings of bugs and number stations from Cuba, and my first two albums were made entirely on a first gen Playstation. Fifty cents?! Holy crap even I can afford that! Thanks egon! Not goon, but goon-adjacent: I just shared a gig (perhaps the last one in VA until???) last week with this fine duo from Lynchburg, VA. They make dreamy ambient stuff with vintage Tascam 4-tracks, cassettes, two microKORGs (sooo jealous) and more traditional instruments like recorder and lap guitar.
