This LP piqued my interest and after reading a synopsis it sounded like some sort of Ace Attorney VS JENOVA so I got myself a cheap copy and today I finished it. I won't go into details yet because of the spoiler policy, but it's an understatement that I might have overhyped it a bit. It's certainly a weird game and wouldn't go around recommending it but I don't regret playing it. Going to follow this to get your impressions.

Hi, hello, this is a very Not Dead Yet post. I've been distracting myself with a much more fun game in Dragon Quest XI S for the past... while. Long, long while.  Now that I've basically finished that, I should be able to work on this more often. No update yet, and maybe not for a little bit. Gonna try and get a bit of a backlog first, though. Y'know just in case.

 A lot of the episode titles seem kinda arbitrary, honestly. We're 3 for 3 at it being technically relevant but only in vague loose terms. Case in point, Nocturne here is clearly being used for its artistic meaning - a painting of scenery at night. How relevant is it gonna be to this episode of the game specifically? Well... You must have something.We can repeat this three more times with him getting increasingly more dismissive and liking us even less with each attempt. It's not really noteworthy beyond that.  Memory still can't be used, so that leaves us with this.   Yeah, you were there, huh? Some reference data I had sent from my home PC. Hm, what? You look mad or something. Is something wrong? Very easy single Worm here. Not much to it, really. Whisper Malum Shinji snaps his tongue and leaves the PC room. FORT it seems he didn't have any useful information, huh? The suicide spot changed but it doesn't say where to and it's not made any clearer who the members are. We can't afford to take any risks, so  He may get some kind of new information, so keep an eye on him, okay? Only one place left to go, so let's head on over. It's pretty clear that the top is Takuya and the bottom is Blond Boy, but the lack of proper punctuation is not going to help. I'll at least add that much. "Um... Uh... Okay..." Takuya turned pale as he left the room. Atsuki saw the worried look on Takuya's face and decided to follow him. Dark Noise "Hey twerp, why weren't you here yesterday? Don't tell me you were in the nurse's office again." "Uh, well, of course not..." "Oh yeah? I don't buy that. I bet you went and squealed to the teacher again, didn't ya?" Hearing this, Takuya's face tenses up. His expression changed only for a moment, but the bully took notice. "You little... We were supposed to meet up! So, you just break promises like that, huh? You know what happens..." "Oh... My..."  It's kinda hard to tell from the audio balancing here, but Akira is voiced in this scene. Unsurprisingly, he is the only one that applies to. This is not confusing or annoying, don't be silly. "Huh? What, Mido!? I'm kinda busy right now..." "Oh yeah? Well I'M kinda in a lousy mood right now!" "Pfft... Please. Why should I give a drat about your mood?" "That's fine, you don't have to care. I'll just knock your teeth out!" ".........drat." The blond boy, with a disheveled, defeated look on his face, glared at Akira as he went away. Bucolica  Eh, no prob. I just didn't care much for that jerk. Don't sweat it. Wow, Mido really does have a strong sense of justice. What in... What the heck are you on about?  That pansy... Just need one punch to do the job. Hey, what... Well, don't get into any trouble for my sake. That idiotic look on his face... Disgusting! Uh... I don't feel so good... Well, clearly not considering he literally just said as much but y'know whatever.  Scene ends and we've got three more places to go now. Seems like a busy morning but we've an unfortunate catch here.  We could go visit Mika at the cafe, but we've only got a two "turn" (for want of a better word) time limit to get that done.  We could visit Yayoi in the Art Room, but she also has two chances before becoming unavailable.  And Honoka in her office has the exact same thing too! Since this is our proper introduction to time management, insofar as it exists here, we don't have a particularly tough decision to make or anything. As a tutorial, these really really do not matter much. Later on, these begin to actually mean things. Not much later either, but let's not get ahead of ourself. First up is Yayoi! Sunny Spot She's talking to herself as she mixes the paint on the palette. "Should I finish it before he gets back...? Ah, Saijo!" For some reason, this scene is voiced. It's not worth worrying about because it takes like 40 seconds to get through it.  It's nice and quiet here; sometimes I eat alone. Plus it gives me time to think about the painting I'm working on. It's almost finished. But I don't know if I should continue or not. I'd like to have Arthur look at it for me, and I just can't decide what to do. Well, I can't just give up on it. I'll work a bit more. This is why I'd recommend doing Yayoi's scene here, honestly. It's debatable how useful levels even are, sure, but I'd rather have 500 EXP for literally nothing just in case.  Mika or Honoka isn't much of a choice either, in practice. We'll go with Mika. Bucolica  Unlike the previous scene, this one is not voiced. Consistency? What consistency?  Oh, I'm so jealous... You're sparkling beauty, and Yayoi's hair is so silky... and long It's sad when, in hindsight, this is a relatively minor screw up. Gonna be seeing much worse before too long.  It was to your shoulders back in elementary school. Uh, no thanks. The trimming and care, my hair would be mess. (sic) Plus, I think I look better with short hair. Oh, what a coincidence! Saijooo! The general gist of it, at least, even if it's not overtly specific. Mystic Hm, a couple of interesting little bits in there. One line especially stands out, to me, and could be interpreted a few ways... Bucolica Be careful not to get caught by a teacher! Between perhaps some low-key relevant info courtesy of that phone call and this bonus 500 EXP, I'd consider Mika's scene here one you should definitely do. I skipped Honoka's because, well, you don't get the bonus EXP from it and I'm petty like that.  Only one option available to us now, so let's go visit Aoi at the Quad. Sunny Spot Aoi Matsumura is looking at the flowers and singing an old love song, while thinking deeply about something. "...oh, Saijo?" Aoi is embarassed from having been seen singing so enthusiastically by Atsuki.   Don't you get lonely when Autumn comes? You live by yourself, right? I've been living on my own for several years now, but when Autumn comes, I somehow feel lonely. But I really love this melancholy time of year. Look at this flowerbed. It only feels this way now.  We-well... Where are you going, Naruse? Once again, because this game is presently consistent in nothing but its own inconsistency... Shinji is voiced in this scene. Yeah. N-no! Come back here!Shinji stops as he tries to open the gate. "I have an errand to run.." No! I can't let you leave!"Okaaay..."  No! Did Mr. Yamato say it's ok? You need permission! ...Now that we've actually met Yamato, we know this is complete bollocks. We could've guessed anyway, because Shinji is pretty sketch, but Yamato's whole... He goes overseas to firing ranges a few times a year. He's a real maniac. You've probably noticed... but it's hard to connect him with the suicide group. I doubt someone so active would commit suicide unless I am going to... VERY politely disagree with this assessment of suicide. It is very misrepresentative, to put it very, very lightly. But there's nothing like that anywhere. He's clean. Contacting him is probably faster than speculating...  I'm gonna view Atsuki's place & the next town... It'll take some time with this wide range, but I'll find where that Yamato guy is, don't worry! Wait a minute, OK? That kid, where is she hearing this stuff from? Anyway, once Natsuki finds Yamato, go heard toward that point.

The game does a good job of setting up an unsettling atmosphere with weird little details like this. But the poo poo with Yayoi? That's not fun and I don't know what they expected out of you, other than saving religiously.

 We're rapidly moving towards the end of the day. We've got a few things left to do, so we'll try to get through the lot right now. Start off by going to YUZI, because we need to find Shinji, I guess, but also to visit... Nami? Twilight Nami gazed at an ominous figure in the design painted on a green wall. Atsuki saw this, and dashed towards Nami.  So, Nami here is voiced because this game likes to spend its talent on important plot scenes and irrelevant side garbage.  Do ya' think this is gross?  It's so nasty, it makes me want to barf....Okay, I may have brought up the voice acting in this scene for a reason other than "why is this voiced?" Yuzi came to them after hearing the conversation.  ...The other-other reason I brought up Nami's voice acting here is Yuzi. Yuzi, naturally, is not voiced. Pumpkin Pon   Oh, this's your place, huh? That's right... But I have something I wanna' ask you? You said something that was bothering me a moment ago. Bothering you? Ah, yeah, that it's gross. It's been confirmed near AMS Bank in Area 2, Act like nothing's up, and use Sigma as soon as possible! His Shinen is subconscious, so it may be hard. Do your best! So, we've got three places to go when searching for Yamato. Using Natsuki's Viewing here makes finding him easy, and we do want to get to him before that 3 turn timer runs out. ...But we're not off to the bank just yet.  There's something very minor, very irrelevant but very permanently missable at the station. Sunny Spot So, there's two distinct and apparent sets of collectible-ish things. Arguably three, but we'll get to that later.  The first are these black QR codes. They always appear in very time limited, highly restricted points. You have one shot to get them before they're gone forever. They don't exactly do anything. They're more for... uh, worldbuilding? I guess? This one ties into that story Ryo told us, for example.  So, now that we've wasted one of our three turns, Yamato's moved and we'd need to rescan to find him. Not gonna bother with that, though. He runs in a strict pattern here, you see. He starts at the Bank, then moves to the Police Station before finally going to Kisaragi Station and then leaving and we've missed important content. There's nothing at the Bank or the Police Station if he's not there, though. Dark Noise   What are you doing?Using Sigma, of course.  Yamato Remember how a little ways back Takuya had his notebook as one? Yeah, Yamato has a (stock image of a) gun as one. You probably know, but Picus is gathering info, and they've succeeded in infiltrating Kisaragi City.  and he's a weirdo, huh? He's hacked the President's PC and doctored photos, and has almost been arrested several times for it. He's a minor, and a lack of evidence saved him. No, Nola! It is not safe to say that, at all! It is never safe to say that! He probably found info on the suicide group. From there, he may try to interrupt our search, and may become an obstacle, so we have to be careful. Getting all of them is an exercise in misery, because some are kind of mutually exclusive, so I'm not gonna bother. I'll get what I get and leave it at that. Yeah, the NG+ carry over is very limited. There's nothing really given to make things quicker, and you get to keep a quarter of your earned EXP (yay?) and half everyone's Affection (...yep) and... that's it. It's real dumb! Does carrying over affection also carry over the times you made the correct emotional responses? like when you see the arrows on the top screen? Curiously the sub-titled Japanese for the episode title is 'The song of dusk', which seems not quite correct. This is a bit of a departure for the subtitled text in any case since episodes 0, 1 and 3 were just the transliteration of the English word and Mystery was straightforwardly the kanji for 'mystery'. The retranslation person mentioned earlier covers the multiple issues with the classroom scenes (no spoilers as long as you don't step outside that particular page)
