What shall we do with him? A permaban, perhaps? Probate him for a few years? Or...shall we employ a big red custom title? You, the goons of SA, shall decide his fate.

Remember Channel 101 (still going, currently with online screenings and voting, though it's currently on holiday break until late January) and its sister project Channel 101 NY, (formerly Channel 102, and currently in a state of who-the-gently caress-knows)? The project, which helped give us Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, helped define the nature of original online video series in a pre-YouTube world. People submit five-minute-long mini-show pilots, five of which make it two each screening alongside new episodes of returning mini-shows. Votes are cast at screenings, with five shows making it through to the next one each time.

Frequency 101 is this in podcast form, created in response to the Bad Things alongside Channel 101's current stream-based screenings. The same rules apply (except that voting continues for at least a few days after the episode goes live, and a mini-podcast's title and credits need not be included in its episodes - they're listed at the end of each Frequency 101 episode) - including the self-cancellation rule wherein a final episode can be longer than five minutes. Mini-shows include:

Crypta (cryptid comedy starring a Project-Paperclipped German scientist hunting them down)
Fabrizio Call Your Mother (pathos-packed phone calls from said mother, who never gets a response)
Tapped In (a very classic-Channel-101-esque yet very modern concept wherein an ordinary man gains a personal guardian angel in the form of the government agent assigned to monitor his phone calls)
and The Cave, which is stupid and has no right to be as funny as it is.

Frequency 101 used to have a framing device wherein the mini-shows were part of a mysterious broadcast that causes people who hear it to commit murder, but they've ditched that in favor of letting whoever places fifth in the online voting host the next episode.

The latest episode was a little weird - only three new pilots were featured, and two shows self-cancelled with grand finales, so there were only six shows to vote for, with everyone's top five votes counting as per the norm (voting has since concluded for that episode). Anyone can make a pilot, as long as it's less than five minutes long. The deadly for the next episode is November 20, so there's still a couple of weeks.

Episode 4 is out and still open for voting. Pilot submissions are open as always. New pilots are Dumb Fantasy (banter-based comedy starring modern humans in a fantasy setting), Climbing the Bridge (a dry Scientology parody), Caveman Cove (prehistoric soap opera), Mosh with Josh (non-fiction music review show), Ghosters (paranormal investigation dramedy) and Horse Play (Channel 101-esque series about horses brought to you by the Department of Homeland Security).
