I'm a manager in a large corporation, so I learn about all the really bad things that no one should do. For example, you should definitely NOT contact IWW and ask which workplaces they would like to unionize so that you can apply for jobs there.

I wonder if being a secret union plant makes having a lovely job more bearable.

Ask me about that time I told people mixing bleach and vinegar is okay

Hell, even being union may not necessarily help you strike. We have specific language in IBEW contracts about not causing work stoppages, and lots of big PLA projects make the contractors sign off saying their guys will not go on strike nor strike in sympathy with other trades

Lots of people won't cross picket lines regardless (I won't), but unions have been defanged over the last 30+ years, and it loving sucks.
Those are consessions by well established unions to appear less scary/exist in today's climate. A newly formed union has no need for anti strike clauses.
They can do whatever it takes, within and outside the law depending on how much they want a thing. That's how it all got started.

I'm in the ironworkers union and we apparently disagreed with the IWW at some point but I haven't tracked down why yet. Maybe we just wanted more independent action.
