This is extremely gross & I hope he recovers because injuries suck and I'm sure that hurts like the absolute dickens, BUT! it's also kind of funny that the lakers try to deal with injuries to their stars and their brand new starting center plays 14 minutes before getting injured

When I was 17, my father was so stupid, I didn't want to be seen with him in public. When I was 24, I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in just 7 years.
Marc Gasol played better than Drummond despite the fact he was supposed to sit this game out for covid recovery.

As much fun as trade deadlines are, giving every player an in-season (waivable) no-trade clause is probably the right thing to do. Off-season trades can still happen but if a guy is like "wtf, I don't want to move" having to wait seems humane. If a team really needs to a move a guy, working with them to find somewhere they'd be willing to waive their no-trade would motivate teams to find something that works for everybody.

Stepien was so bad overall as a team owner that the league named a rule after him, as a stipulation of something teams can’t do. His entire three-year stint in Cleveland was just like that. The Cavs hosted the All-Star game in Stepien’s first season, and then-NBA commissioner Larry O’Brien was already so leery of him that the only pregame event he permitted Stepien to host was a luncheon. At that luncheon, O’Brien was greeted by a Cavs “mascot” who was eating beer cans and lighting firecrackers.

How have the draft class aside from Edwards looked this year? I've watched next to no basketball.

Locally, Stepien’s eccentricities were even more pronounced. During his first summer as owner, on June 24, 1980, he stood atop Cleveland’s Terminal Tower, about 700 feet in the air, and dropped softballs out of the sky. He’d just started a slo-pitch softball team, for which he was attempting to drum up publicity. At least two people were hurt, and by the end of it, onlookers were running for their lives.

lamelo is great, wiseman is fine/starting level, haliburton is good, saddiq bey and immanuel quickly are probably going to be long term starters, ja’sean tate has been pretty good for the lovely rockets, and that’s about everyone who’s worth talking about

It's my favorite draft class in years. Edwards, Ball and Tyrese looks like stars, you've got fun raw guys like Patrick Williams and Poku, bucket getters like Bey and Quickley, and a lot of sleeper hits like McDaniels, Bane, Tillman, Maxey, Pritchard

Solid, better than expected. Haliburton is great, LaMelo looks like a all-nba potential kinda guy. Quickley looks pretty solid, honestly Wiseman has been pretty good (guy is getting a lot of flack he doesn't deserve). There have been some nice late round/2nd round guys too.

It's not as dire as it originally looked, though it'll probably be light on star power.

I love my boy Tony Eddy but he has some work to do before he looks like a star.

Not great but it's fine. LaMelo owned before he got hurt. I don't know if anyone has really popped as a potential star beyond those two (Hali is really good but still not sure he has that kind of ceiling and I guess maybe Pat Williams? Or Poku post-G League stint if you want to get really wild) but plenty of solid rotation type guys.

The league probably loves the trade deadline buzz so much theyd be loath to agree to that at the table.

I feel like that's just going to benefit large market teams and also result in teams strong-arming players, especially if they're on rookie deals or are bench guys.

I don't know if you can really fix trades, the entire model is dumb.

Isaiah Stewart and Saben Lee seem pretty productive for their draft spots too. Pretty solid work by Detroit to FINALLY MAYBE HOPEFULLY start a rebuild?

Aside from being a horrible racist of course.

they should have taken Tillman instead of Stewart and I think Bane will be better than Bey but yeah they got some dudes who can at least hold down a rotation spot and then I guess we'll see what happens with Killian. Everyone seems to have given up on him but it was only seven games in a terrible situation.
