Germany winning with the jammiest goal possible in a match that mostly consisted of players slipping all over the pitch. Musiala for slapstick performance of the match, lad couldn't get anything right lol

Don't know if it came across in the highlights but Lamine Yamal was cooking Brazil. Spain were completely dominating them sans the penalties. Like Brazil barely left their own half in the first half.

Oh, I didn't mean that the ref altered the outcome of the game. The Brazil pk was soft as hell too.

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.
“Shocking” is definitely an apt description of Lampard’s management

I've got a pocket full of cheese🧀, and a garden full of trees🌴.

This is a silly ignorant question. So I do apologise.

But are Russia a good international team?

Relatedly, if theoretically one was able to put together an all star team made up pf players from the USSR, would this Soviet team be any good? How much better would it be than one from one just from Russia?

I apologize for the silliness of the question, and also for any geopolitical hornets nests it may stir.

I'd say they're good enough that losing to them would not be considered a hugely embarrassing upset for most other national sides. You could reliably bet on them to qualify for the euro 9 times out of ten and maybe every alternate or every third world cup. They'd have no chance of winning either, unless there's a total fluke like when Greece won.

Is the second question historical or about current players from former soviet republics?

Historically, Soviet Union won an Euro and was runner up twice, and they won olympic gold in 1988 against a Brazilian team that had many of the players that would win the WC in 1994.

If current, a "soviet union" national team would likely have several starters from Ukraine and Georgia, so it would certainly be better than Russia only.

If it’s a team of ‘grandad doesn’t like to talk about the old days’ current players then it’s going to be heavily Georgian and Ukrainian, and would definitely beat Russia in any tournament held outside of Russia. Not sure on the goalkeeper but;

Mylenko (Everton but still)
Zivchenko

Mudryk
Chakvetadze (Watford but still)
Tsyhankov
Mikautadze

Kvaratskhelia
Dovbyk
Norberto Briasco (Armenian) (Included for name alone, plays for Boca?)

Past players would be even better and you get to include Mart Poom.

Is Akinfeev still going? Seems like the default keeper choice, although maybe you go with Trubin or Lunin from Ukraine these days.

The real question is whether you count Kanchelskis in the historical Russia XI or not.
