It was actually the stoned age. Ug was laying in his comfy cave after a 4 hour workday of gathering berries, smoking that weed, when he thought "huh. Maybe we ought to build houses, and till the fields for 14 hours a day. Wouldn't that be nice!" and the rest is history. And this is why the use of the devil plant, cannabis, is reviled across the world.
