I'm gonna be honest. I kind of hate death of the author stuff and fan theories where Totoro is a death god (plz just ignore all evidence that contradict this like the mom not dying! I am v. clever). As much of a jingoistic nutjob as Yukio Mishima was,I thoroughly appreciate his clowning on future fan theorists by disecting his own works, preempting most theories and pointing to evidence in the text to refute it. |
