Would you just use blank space to match? it might be a little clunky, but both phrases could be displayed next to each other, with one of them covered up and the other visible, and each time you click the part that was visible gets covered up and the part that was covered up becomes visible, with no changes to the overall text length

Right on But what if you wrote something that had like... On top: "The quick brown fox stops at a taco truck for some pico de gallo" and then other text that isn't relevant. And Underneath: "I like turtles" and then other text that isn't relevant. When it switched to the turtles side, would there just be a long gap before the remaining text in the line, or would the text reflow to the new, shorter length of the string? I would think you'd have to keep it at the length of the longest string. So there may be blank spaces.
