Worst Caricature:C-36 Tough competition from the legion of Homers, but this Silent Hill monstrosity is nauseating. Worst Concern Trolling:CT-3 I think this list might be missing a key ingredient.. Worst Gaslighting:G-23 Firebombing clinics: Definitely a left-wing thing. Laziest Non-Gorrell:L-25 Everything about this is low-effort even by Rall's stunningly low standards. Laziest Gorrell:LG-2 Absent both art and thought. Worst Label:LB-17 The crushing weight of forgiveness is almost a philosophical conundrum. Most Incomprehensible:MI-21 Genuinely don't understand this, and the closest I can get is I'm certain the opposite of what's meant. Most Opposite of Reality:OR-1 Ranting about pop-culture ephemera while ignoring corporate malfeasance: Definitely a left-wing thing. Most Easily Reinterpreted:R-4 Why yes, anti-police protestors are being murdered a lot, now that you mention it. Worst Roe Cartoon:ROE-5 You agree she needs one, though? Worst Cartoon about a Tragedy:TG-7 Somehow, "children died just to score a political point against me" is even worse then "We must never talk about politics after tragedies" Worst Cartoon about Ukraine:UKR-4 Whataboutism at it's purest Most Willfully Dense:WD-2 Possibly the most unintentionally funny cartoon here. Best Edit/ParodyP-8 Has to be this one, it's a masterful parody. Worst Overall:WO-26 Best Overall:BO-12 Luckovich is rarely subtle, but when he is, he's incredible. A-8, purely because it's difficult to remember what it's even about. AD-5, Stiglich's racism was a strong contender, but the clunky setup for the two things is much worse in the Heller toon WQE-1, lots of strong contenders but I had to go with the one that couldn't even bother to get the cartoon bear right ANY-2 BG-1, the visual bigotry puts it over 3, if only barely BAS-4, the bloody hands and puppetmaster imagery is much worse than Palpatine BLGBT-5, this was a hard one. Honestly 1 and 5 are both fairly interchangeable but I went with 5 due to the extra slam against trans women with the bearded lady. BR-6, god this one was even tougher, it was a tossup between this one and "actually the KKK wasn't that bad" from Stiglich BT-11 and this one was tougher still! Stiglich has so far avoided my vote so I had to give it to him for this one C-33 CT-3 G-26, I was all set to make 1 or 2 my choice but the fact that there are states banning "cheap readily available methods of birth control" really shows what a piece of poo poo Lester is for trying to frame people who were critical as overreacting L-22 LG-1 LB-19, at first just because Garrison has escaped unscathed so far, but also because as bad as 4 was, cans of paint do actually have the color on the label. It's stupid and a dumb label but it's at least the barest fig leaf of defensible. MI-2, all of the others I vaguely recall what they're about or at least can make a guess but this one is still incomprehensible to me OR-3, 1, 10 and 12 were close though R-44, simple enough to be easily reinterpreted at a glance, though shoutout to 4 for only losing out by a second of thought ROE-3, only winning out over 4 because 4 is pulling double duty as racism TG-8 due to recent events showing how hypocritical this is UKR-2 WD-2 if only because Rall being eternally mad at Art Spiegelman is hilarious P-15, lots of incredibly good ones though, a difficult category in a good way this time WO-2, the only one that just immediately made me go "gently caress you" BO-3

Try and get in under the wire here. Worst 'A Thing Happened': A-6 Very tasteful. Worst 'Two Things Happened': AD-4 Part of me wants to go for 5, given how lame and cumbersome it is, but really, this is a lot more unpleasant. Worst Queen Elizabeth cartoon: WQE-5 While these are all pretty bad, and I'm not really sure what 2 is going for, the pettiness of this one makes it. Most 'Any Day Now': ANY-1 A tough one, but this has the most 'it's happening  ' energy.Least concealed bigotry (General): BG-1 With the context and all, I suppose I can understand the sentiment, but it doesn't make 'our enemies are subhuman monsters' cartoons any less gross. Bonus points for the hook nose. Least concealed bigotry (Antisemitism): BAS-2 A tricky one. I was going to say 4, but then I pondered whether you need to be in-the-know to get what it was referring to. I've been too online for too long to tell which antisemitic dogwhistles are common knowledge and thus whether it's concealed and so on, and I don't want to get into that hornet's nest. Anyway, instead, the other Garrison. Gotta have the teeth, etc. Least concealed bigotry (LGBTQ+ other than pure transphobia): BLGBT-7 Eh, I don't know. While there are some more overtly hateful, I suppose it's the old school 'gay = disease' bit that's making me opt for this. Least concealed bigotry (Race): BR-5 You're really going for this comparison, Stiglich? Least concealed bigotry (Transphobia): BT-9 While I kept looking at the others, I kept coming back to this one with its 'classic' portrayal (there seem surprisingly few in this year's batch) and a complaint that makes no sense about hasn't happened. Worst caricature: C-20 Rall and Danzinger feel like such easy mode, so I feel I should go for someone different. So here's Summers with one that doesn't look like either Biden or Carter. Worst concern trolling: CT-3 I guess? I doubt Summers cares about any of this, while I'm inclined to think Lester and Payne would actually want their bogeymen disposed of. Worst gaslighting: G-1 Seriously. They were smug about it being a supposedly covert way of saying this for so long. The backstory of the phrase wasn't even that long ago. Laziest non-Gorrell: L-25 Of the two caption on a photo ones, I'm opting for this one. I figure Leunig had to at least find a picture of Albanese speaking rather than just any of him. Laziest Gorrell: LG-1 On top of everything, it's just staggering inept. Worst label: LB-15 BIRDS! Most incomprehensible: MI-2 That or 10. Real master of metaphor, that Lester. Knowing who he is, I think I can assume what he wants the frog one to say, even if it doesn't say that or anything sensical, but the Hatfield and McCoy thing? I can't even manage that much. Most 'Opposite of Reality': OR-10 Probably the most obviously not true one. Most easily reinterpreted: R-17 Without the accompanying rant, how on earth would anyone interpret this as pro-Musk? Worst Roe cartoon: ROE-5 For the bonus side of racism. Worst cartoon about a tragedy: TG-13 The whataboutery of it all. Worst cartoon about Ukraine: UKR-4 Shut up, Rall. Most wilfully dense: WD-2 Shut up, Rall… again. Best edit/parody: P-34 Quite the year. As direct a parody as this is, it's to-the-pointedness of it works for me. Worst overall: WO-14 Just a perfect storm. Pretty much every conceivable way it could find to be poo poo, it manages. Best overall: BO-5 I don't feel like this one has gotten enough love in the votes, so I figure I'd go for it.

 Before the awards begin, a couple notes. First, all winners are now separately saved under my name on imgur for the time being. I couldn't save all images as we had 469 nominees this year. Second, I need help to sustain this process. I simply cannot manage this amount of work on my own; I've not been able to write special Ks profiles, I haven't updated the wiki sours wiki, I'm currently doing everything from pulling nominees to vote tabulation to rehosting winners to composing this post manually. Oh my goodness! Complaining about Leunig in the main thread, plus SCF's incredible Kelly-style parody, made something go 'ping' in my brain and remember the Kellies. And it looks like I co-won one! Wowee! That's actually really nice! I drew the 'gay abortions' comic, wayyy back when, that these awards took their original name from, and while that was nothing to do with me — in fact I think I wasn't following the thread at that time — I was amused and flattered when I found out about it later, so I've always had a special fondness for the Gaybies/Kellies. So thank you Discendo Vox for all of your time-consuming and undoubtedly tedious work, and thank you to all the posters who nominate and vote. Having this all in a separate thread makes it easy to miss, though, I'm afraid. Maybe in addition to some specially-made award images, I could put together some eye-catching promotional art for when the time comes again? (To tell you the truth Discendo Vox I have been meaning to volunteer to do such for a few years now, but have had such limited free time that I've been reluctant to make an offer like that in case I have to break my promises later. But maybe this year's the year. To that end, I claim Platinum as my prize, so that you can DM me if you need to. And getting that upgrade is another thing I've been trying to do for years but the SA store just absolutely refuses to accept my current Visa card for some reason. So like I said: this is really nice.) I would love to help make the awards a little more... ceremonial? Colourful? — since so much work goes into them already. Might as well get the most out of it.
