Humphries was also a lovely TERF and he was a big fan of Trump simply because he "stirred up politics", he was a gigantic rear end in a top hat. He always saw himself as a 'provocateur' whose job was to offend people and at the start of his career he was lampooning the upper end of society but towards the end of his life he was constantly punching down and vilifying minorities. You see that happen all the time with comedians who used to be hugely iconic back in the 70s or 80s who then became super wealthy and lived an incredibly comfortable, sheltered life for decades: they'd try to perform their old party trick of relentlessly mocking the 'other' (which used to be the establishment, but now they're part of the establishment) and when they get called out for being a bigot they act all hurt and scream about their freedom of speech being attacked, as if they didn't have the biggest and widest platforms in the entire world.
