The two albums by the amazing Michigan rap duo. They were never payed for the copies of Master of the Universe that were sold, and Water World only so a limited production run (and has a lot of the same songs as the other). As a result both albums are now availible for free download. The duo has since split up.

You can grab the promo CD for Deaf in the Family titled For Those About to Rock, a collaboration from Brookyn production team The Resource (DJ Sae One and Adam Podrat aka Mr. Ling) and a host of underground MCs including Scavone, Bavu Blakes, Pumpkinhead and more. Their 10-song promo CD features remixes of classic rock tracks -- from The Clash's "Guns of Brixton" to The Who's "Who Are You", nicely flipped. This isn't really a mash-up; it's better.

Go to their website here and sign up for their mailing list. They'll send you a link to a directory where you can dowload all 10 tracks plus the album art for free.

The Shimmer Kids Underpop Association has disbanded and most of the band members are now in the Society of Rockets. They've rather generously made available what seems to be everything by the Shimmer Kids.

Pitchfork says the band has a musical sensibility ignoring anything post-Beach Boys. Whatever that means.

Buck 65 has released a free downloadble mixtape called "Strong Arm". It's available from:

http://www.buck65.com/secrethouse/multimedia.html

"Strong Arm is a "mixtape" in the New York-style underground hip hop sense of the word... with a twist. None of the instrumentals are from hip hop records. The music comes from the worlds of punk, classical, folk, library music, everywhere else.

It was recorded in a day on a budget of $0 and it shows. This is a scrappy piece of work. There are loud vinyl pops, mistakes, vocal glitches... In other words, it's very lo-fi."

(from the Project Notes)

Edit: Might aswell mention this aswell. http://www.darkwinter.com has a bunch of free releases in the dark ambient genre. They're all under the creative commons licence, and there's a lot of good stuff there.
