Revenant.Eagle posted:That is just badass. Do they counterweight them like that so they can stay balanced or something? Only thing you need is a locked diff. The way they pop it on two wheels at high speed with no ramps is badass. The times I've ridden in a car on two wheels the speed have been slower and a small ramp was used to lift the car. Like a 1ft high ramp.

^^ I've only been driving stick for three months. Among the first things I learned was to TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS WHEN SHIFTING. Of course that's a minor sin compared to taking blind corners at 120MPH with oncoming traffic on a narrow two lane public road. All it takes is one guy at the wrong moment to be passing in the oncoming lane and they'll be burying him in an urn. Limited slip diff in the front and when the vtec kicks in... yay But it is kinda silly to have a car with subpar performance below a certain rpm mark and then all hell braking loose once you go over that very steep line. Ziploc posted:Edit: http://youtube.com/watch?v=aexl_eeiHDw Bah, the crazy fucker, I hope he loses his license. I didn't think his shifts were especially lovely, he even blipped the throttle. Oldsmobile posted:I didn't think his shifts were especially lovely, he even blipped the throttle. Even Prelude TripTronics shouldn't have done that. the problem I have with both those peoples shifting are the up shifts. Sure the S2000 driver blipped on every down change but he slipped the gently caress out of the clutch on every up change. Big big big no no.

Coffee Jones posted:Of course that's a minor sin compared to taking blind corners at 120MPH with oncoming traffic on a narrow two lane public road. I hate to say it but I have been and still am guilty of this (albeit at slower speeds), although I always do it in places that rarely have anyone on them and never leave my lane. Matter of fact, I recorded a slower short run once just to see how well a camera mounted on a tripod in the car (without actually being mounted to anything) would work: cut-out link Turns out it works, although a little shakey. My biggest problem ended up being the head of the tripod swerving on really tight turns and I couldn't tighten it enough by hand. As I said though, this is extremely stupid. I only averaged about 50mph and hit a maximum of about 65 in my video, and I've gone faster on that same road on different runs, but that is still far faster than is safe for that road or any mountain road. That said, while you take your life in your hands whenever you do something like that, you shouldn't feel bad if you hurt someone who is oncoming in your lane, as I've never seen a 2-lane mountain road that didn't have signs every ten feet about no passing. Ever. Passing when you shouldn't is a pet peeve of mine along with not using your blinker. Edit: I removed the url simply because I don't want anyone to think I'm proud of it, which I'm not. I just like the twisties too much for my own good Second Edit: Reading the comments left by that guy, apparently he was using km/h instead of mph so he was actually averaging about 50mph the whole time. Seemed faster than that, but apparently not. The King of Swag fucked around with this message at 13:14 on Jan 5, 2007 |

It's one thing taking blind corners when you're a 21ST CENTURY TEENAGER!!!!! and another when you really expect someone to come at you from around the corner. I've been meaning to post pics and a movie of me doing the crazy poo poo in the snow for a few months now, but since we're having the warmest summer ever measured I'm kinda having trouble doing that.

Oldsmobile posted:Did you drive on the same road, it kinda looked like it? No, the road I posted in my link (before I removed it) is near my house. It's actually one of the larger roads as it leads clear through the mountains (the ridge narrows through there for some reason, making it easier to put a road through); it ends up branching off to increasingly smaller and crazier mountain back-roads. I actually live right at the bottom of where two different mountain ranges smack into each other, just north of a third mountain range, and just west of several more mountain ranges (I live in the SoCal San Fernando valley, I'm surrounded by the San Gabriel's, Santa Monica's and many other large mountain ranges). This leads to what is an essentially unlimited supply of twisty mountain roads and fire-road off-roading fun, which doesn't help me kick the habit of racing through them.
