This is a hell of a long shot, but here goes: In the summer of 2005 I was staying in Canada and there was a commercial for Wal-Mart (I think) that was on TV every other minute. It may have been shown in the States, too-- I'm a Brit so I don't know. The commercial was animated, very stylised, and had lots of kids skateboarding or something. It was all quite slick and aimed at a teenage demographic I guess. Anyway. It had an awesome song over the top of it. Some riff-driven guitar rocky number, with some singing that came in just before the ad finished, I think. I remember at the time hitting up all the "what's that song used on that advert" sites to no avail, and from time to time I still try. I guess it's possible it wasn't for Wal-Mart because all the other ads I've seen for it in my Youtube searches have been really lovely. Does anyone have the faintest clue what I'm talking about? edit: demographic is not the same word as democratic :(

After a bit of searching, Wikipedia's article on deja vu tells me it contains samples of Steely Dan's Black Cow and Jerry Rivera's Amores Como El Nuestro. I need help identifying an Ozzy Osbourne song. I didn't get the chance to hear virtually any of the lyrics, and what little I did hear was muffled by the retail environment I work in. What I do remember though is the long guitar solo at the end that has a melodic structure that sounds almost exactly like the refrain from "I Will Survive" by Aritha Franklin. Sorry that that is so little to go by.

While that is very little to go on, I'm assuming I can narrow it down to Ozzy songs that get radio play, and I therefore have a hunch that it might be Mr. Crowley because it's the only one that springs to mind with a long solo at the end and I can sort of see the "I Will Survive" comparison. Okay, I will be totally blown away if anyone can help me with this. Sometime in the early to mid 1990s, I heard a Christian album with a country feel, and I can't remember the name of the artist or the titles of any songs. The singer's name was Gordon (something) or (something) Gordon; the only song I recall from the album had something to do with Gabriel's Trumpet (and that may be the title of the song, I don't know). It's driving me absolutely insane. I've googled and wiki'd and searched newsgroups to no avail. Please, end my torment?

I need help identifying a band / song. I saw them on a newer Sprint commercial. It has a guy and a girl on stage, the girl is playing a keyboard and the guy is on the drums (I think). The commercial has people holding up cell phones and says something like "Your world is wireless blah blah". Does anybody know if this is a real band, and if so, who they are and what the song is?

This is a really obscure request. I'm from Manchester but I live in Japan and often when I meet housewives in their 40s or 50s they have on many occasions tried to start singing a song to me that seems to have the lyric 'Manchester and Liverpool' but that's all they can remember and they just lah lah after that. They always try to tell me its by The Beatles but I'm pretty sure it's not. I have 2 possible clues although they may end up being red herrings.. 1. One student told me the reason no one knows any more than the Manchester and Liverpool part is the song is actually in French and so of course the students couldn't understand French so don't know it. 2. Another student claimed one of the lyrics was 'kemuri tanabiku machi yo' 煙り棚引く町よ which translates to smoke trail town. I googled for the second one but found nothing, if anyone could help me out here I'd be very happy.

I want to know what is the name of the song that plays very briefly when they are about to have like an awkward/intimate moment (and people are holding up lighters), all you hear is the guitar playing a calm part of the song. I can't remember the name of the band or any of the songs, but I don't think it should be too hard to find because the entire album told told a story about a guy who gets pissed at religion, goes on a killing spree, ends up in hell, and realizes it's too late to repent.

This a repost from the other thread. I'm posting it here because this one seems to be a bit more active, and because it came into my head again and it's driving me loving crazy. I'm pretty sure it was called "Dig It", or something along those lines. The chorus was the words "Dig It" over and over again (I think). The artist was a guy, rather than a band (in name at least, there was a whole band playing in the song). It was a simple guitar riff, sort of blues-rock sounding. I seem to remember the music video having something to do with a fly, flying around while the band was playing. This would have been sometime between 1998-2002. I don't even think it was a particularly good song. I just want to know what the gently caress it is at this point. One person suggested Dig In by Lenny Kravitz, but it definitely isn't that. Whoever it is, I haven't come across their name recently from what I can tell.

There's a song that I've heard is by Joe Strummer, but I can't find the name of it anywhere. It's mostly instrumental, although it repeats a yelled "Hey You!" every so often. It's ska-ish, of course, and super bouncy and happy. A friend gave it to me on a mix and it was titled as a WWE wrestler's entrance music (Brian Kendrick), but I'd rather not label it as such. Any clues? I've tried Googling a lot of times, but I think I just don't know where to look.
