Dies posted:I really really wish this guy had had an accident. Actually, accident is the wrong word - it implies both drivers were behaving normally and something happened due to previously unforeseen circumstances - a collision. What a colossal loving tool. If it makes you feel better, he was stupid enough to post pictures of himself and his car on that same site, pictures with his license plate in them. The police didn't exactly have a hard time finding him and arresting him.

A new unofficial UK speed record: 176MPH http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=olmNWqV86fI , the previous record having been 172MPH by a man in a Porsche currently awaiting sentencing for the crime. The police are currently on the hunt for this guy on the bike, I doubt he'll get away with anything less than prison if they do catch him.

Was filling up at my local petrol station on Bank Holiday Monday when eight or so bikes went past on the A414 doing what must have been in excess of 160mph. I mean, seriously 160mph or more. People at neighbouring pumps were yelling and even waving fists it was that fast. And you just know these riders are just the kind of cunts who'll be badmouthing "hur dum cagers" while snorting into a lager at the next pub stop. Here's hoping they kill themselves alone!

I remember them talking about on TopGear that Hammond in the rocket car (before the crash), could very well set the UK land-speed record. My question though is how is that possible? Do you people not have top-fuel dragsters over there? They hit 350+mph in a quarter-mile.

IIRC to set an official land-speed record you need to average the speed over 1km and the do it again in the ooposite direction within hour.

What's the reason for that rule? You could make a car go 1500 mph but because you didn't do it again in the other direction you won't be classed as the fastest car in the world.

The point being it proves that you have a reliable working consistent machine that can do it, not something that generates a billion horsepower and blows itself up to get to the end, or using chemical rocket boosters or someshit. edit: and that ^^

Rules to that effect have applied to every record speed run for the last 80 years. You are measured over a set distance over two runs, within an hour. It also stops "peak" speed claims that are highly dubious. You thence have a set of rules that are easy to replicate (which is more important) that also rule out any assistance from the conditions present on the day. It also introduces some degree of safety into the attempt, because you *must* complete both runs and thence the one shot rockets like Budweiser Rocket will never count.

My question though is how is that possible? Do you people not have top-fuel dragsters over there? They hit 350+mph in a quarter-mile. I guess I didn't word it too well, I meant to say it was the latest speeding video on the 'net, but probably the fastest one anyone has videoed on the public highway. I think the fastest ever on the roads was 182MPH by a Shelby Cobra destined for LeMans back in the 60's, which subsequently led to the introduction of the 70MPH speed limit on the motorway Sure there are faster cars out there like top fuel dragsters and such. Hammond would've taken the record if he hadn't crashed it. I think the same car had the record before he attempted it at a little over 300mph. But anyway, sorry for the misunderstanding/derail there. First off I would like to apologize in advance if these videos have been posted before. I searched through this thread and did not find them (not saying they're not there, I probably just missed them), I also do not have the search function so they very well might have been posted in another thread. Considering the absolutely mind blowing nature of these videos, I would not be surprised. I can't seem to find the video where a rally co-pilot gets a stone up his rear end and the driver makes a lot of thrusting motions with his arm and yells into the camera "YEA, STONE UP rear end! UP rear end OF TIMO! UP!" Anyone know what it is called?
