Okay, crashing is good, but crashing just for the sake of safety is boring. Skip to about 1min in for some proper crash testing (I'm pretty sure it'll buff out), or just watch the whole thing for some sweet Porsches in the desert. Ziploc posted:Was there a death involved? Yes. From DAF Trucks on Wikipedia: Wikipedia posted:# 1988: Two trucks were entered into the Paris-Dakar rally. Jan de Rooy's truck was at a certain stage at the third place overall (!), beating the Peugeot 405 T16's on speed. The other truck, driver by Kees Van Loevestijn, was involved in a crash in which he died, and almost taking the lives of the other 2 occupants of the truck. DAF withdrew. X1 is in a museum I think, and X2 was scrapped.

Aside from being overwrought with faddish technology, the car was okay to drive but was in my opinion noisier than its predecessor because of wind flutter around the A pillar. It used to drive me nuts on long hauls because the sound was no more than an inch from my ear. There was also the issue of the seven speed box, which hunted between cogs on a trailing throttle and would give a great thump when you changed your mind from beans to brakes at a busy junction. I mentioned it in a forum and the consensus was that 'they all do it', though the question of why you need seven speeds remains. Owning the last three iterations of the S-Class together with my experience of all the BMW, Audi and even VW equivalents has made me realise it's an illusion the Germans build better cars. They used to, oh gently caress me yes, but not now. Now they just make cars people want to be seen in.

On the topic of the Lambo doing 219 on the freeway: This is the stretch of freeway that was on. Santan loop 202 in Arizona. You can see the sign of the Hawes Rd "offramp" (which is funny because Hawes Rd doesn't even run through there - it is a ramp to nothing) at the start of the video. What blows my mind about it is two things - one, that is not a very straight and level stretch of road there. It's hardly the Dragon but it does have a few serious bridges and long sweeping curves, but I suppose the pavement is fresh at least. Two, there is a very real and generally constant police presence there, especially at night - as often as not, there is a cruiser sitting lights out in the center median, waiting for someone to fly by.

The part of that clip in the middle, where you hear it tearing by from the side of the road, was pretty drat impressive. Luckily an expert commented on the video to clear things up. expert posted:I see your drifting technique is very weak, especialy you steering technique and your chaging gear technique and no perform your drifting corner. If you want to perform your real drifting, you turn steering and and changing gear shitf with right way and follow the Takumi drifting technique in Initial D movie.Dont follow your playing game style. Just refer the movie and study how to perform your real technique. Cool, that explains it.
