Here are a couple pics:

The TV on the left is my old 50 inch Hitachi that's just chilling out until my mother comes to pick it up.

Didn't realize how crappy the lighting was when I took these pictures. Also, that cornucopia of remotes have now been replaced by a Harmony 880. I've just been too lazy to program it.

Doing a quick channel scan to pick up the playoff game in sweet high definition goodness. It's weird but the 65 inch TV makes the 50 inch feel like I was watching on a really tiny screen for some reason.

It's a bunch of differently exposed photos merged into one, because otherwise you could either only see the screens on a black background, or the opposite where it's just everything else but with the screens horribly bright.

I have verizon coming to install FIOS TV next week. Is that what you have and it sucks? I currently have comcast and I was under the impression that the FIOS TV was less compressed and therefore better?

It's okay - I don't like how its connected to the FIOS wireless router. I'm also an TV retard and don't have it through HDMI so it might look better when i do that

As Jeff8472 said, it's the Ikea Jerker (what a perfect name, suits me perfectly in more ways than one)

The current version is called the Frederik and it comes in a few different versions. There's a small one which is the same width, or maybe not as wide as the Jerker, and also around 25" deep instead of the 35" on the Jerker. Then there's the big one which is WIDER than the Jerker, and 28" deep.

They also don't have the monitor arm like my Jerker has on the left. the shelf under my monitor on my Jerker is a piece of wood I had kicking around with a matching finish that I just put up on some styrofoam blocks :P

Yeah I missed out on the Jerker and while looking at Frederik I just went with the Mikael and one of their new slidey shelf cabinet thingies that fit almost perfectly and allow me to have 3 speakers and 2 monitors with plenty of room to spare. I prefer doing this than the Frederik since I also get cabinets. The price for my combo is about the same too, and the width/height of Mikael and the drawer cabinet is nearly identical so they match eachother well (I did cover up a bit of the particle board with gaff tape though).

Edit for below: It's a surround sound production workstation first, videogame distraction second. Maybe after college I can work this in somehow:

I managed to score an old display model Sony KDL32S2010 for $200 today along with a nice tech craft stand for $39 (also display).

My new setup is as follows:

Paradigm Atom monitors (current version)
Onkyo TX-SR504 receiver
Sony KDL32S2010, 32" LCD

Any recommendations on a cheap DVD player? Should I worry about upscaling or let the TV do the scaling?

$200 for the TV. It was a display model that we had forgotten about in the store so it kept taking automatic markdowns for a year until we found it. Last week I found an open box 3rd gen 8GB Nano for $79.99 at Best Buy. I must have good karma or something.

Since you have an XBR2 (Same model year as the 2010 I believe), what are the differences it between it and the S2010?

do you really find that 480p is that much better than 480i? i would think that on a large HD display it would look pretty mediocre either way.

naturally if you can run component by all means, i know i would. just wondering how much difference it really makes.

I am wondering this also, I tried to play Tiger Woods on my 55" and it looked like rear end. I had a 360 hooked up to my TV and it defaulted to 480p somehow and it looked lovely also, but I suppose for sub $7 it is worth it just to bite.

Yes. However, with that said it's more that the component cables will provide a FAR better looking picture than a composite cable can, even if both are set to 480i.

When I first got my HDTV and hooked my PS2 up to it with the standard composite cable, I was less than impressed. The image was blurry, muddy, dim and ghosted badly. I went out and got some PS3 component cables (which also work with the PS2), hooked them up and was blown away. The image was much brighter and had far better contrast. The colors were lifelike and vibrant, and everything was sharp and crisp. And that's before I enabled 480p! Holy poo poo.

30fps interlaced vs. 60fps progressive. 480p is a world of difference for Wii.

As far as I know the xbr2 is the "premium" series so it has a better contrast ratio, color and a few minor things. This year they have the same equivalents plus a low end model, and while I can see how mine is "better" I don't think most people would notice. Considering the price difference it was only worth it because of the discount.

For what I spent on it I have no real complaints.

I like the dining room table, although I'm not sure why there's a picture of it in this thread. Or 4 pictures of the exact same view of his TV, just with different images on the TV.
