All of the members of my band are straight edge, but we're a hardcore band. We play hardcore, not straight edge. Eh, bands who are more passionate about things like to toss their little label into their band. Political bands of any nature, vegans, edge kids, what have you. It's just semantics, why worry or care? I just think the incident is hilarious because a) he broke edge during Firestorm while X'd up, which is both stupid and funny b) he got jumped and beat up for it, which is both stupid and funny Win/win situation for people with a sense of humor.

[edit]Ha! I finally remembered the band I was thinking of last night. It was Unwritten Law. Maybe I have no idea what i'm talking about anymore and I should just continue to listen to this radio station until the song plays again. For those curious the station is http://www.punk4punks.com/index.php I thought I would recommend it because they have been playing some really good punk and emo. I haven't heard any greenday, sum 41 or any of that other garbage. They play the real popular stuff but they also play a lot of stuff I haven't heard of before too and theres been about three songs in the 9 hours that i've been listening to it that I didn't like. The station also got me interested in three new bands so far, so thats gotta be a plus too. I said come in! fucked around with this message at 15:17 on Mar 4, 2008 |

Soooooooo I've been listening to a lot screamo/emo violence type hardcore lately, and I'm looking for some more bands that might be up my alley and still around and playing today preferably. Anyone recommend me some bands like: Ampere Pg. 99 Orchid Wolves Swing Kids Union of Uranus Amanda Woodward Welcome the Plague Year The Red Scare Palatka Louise Cyphre La Quiete Circle Takes Square Neil Perry City of Caterpillar Don Martin Three (or alternatively, if you are looking for some good screamo and haven't heard this, I highly recommend the listed above) Also, anyone recommend some good more traditional hardcore that's along the lines of American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost or some punk along the lines of Against Me's earlier anarcho-punk releases?

There's no legit way to get mp3s and I could only find 1 album on soulseek. No torrents seem to exist. E: Yeah I agree about the crews and stuff. It's bullshit. I'm also not sure how that would hold up in the UK. Cause FSU seem to be able to travel places and still fight people. But I really don't think that would work here. Everyone in areas of the UK is too tight knit. If that makes sense.

the dude fest line up looks great again this year. Not quite as good as last year but still solid. I won't be going this year because im going to spend my summer road trip budget to go to Seattle for La Quiete. Sux that its 1 stage this year though, half of the fun last year was the mad rush from the chapel to the basement and back again because one band would start as soon as the other ended.

A lot of those bands rip off Indian Summer, so you could start there. Men as Trees is probably my favorite screamo band, and the best part about them is that all of their releases are available for free download on their Myspace. The vocals were kind of off-putting at first, but they really grew on me and now I love them. He has such a unique-sounding voice. Also I believe one of their members is a goon. I could be wrong, though

Banner Pilot https://www.myspace.com/bannerpilot Very reminiscent of Brendan's songs from The Lawrence Arms, I think. That real gritty, harsh-but-fun straight up punk rock sound. I need more bands that sound or feel like this. Obviously I can't really describe the sound very well, so hopefully you can have a listen and tell me more bands that sound the same.
