Nrapture posted:I just snagged a main treasury for us: http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=45477 Good job! Also don't forget, when you check out a treasury make sure you click on every item, as thats how the hits are tracked. Dominoes posted:I'm working on a website. Here's a rough template: http://jmutextbook.com/etsy/index.html I'd love some content suggestions. Looks pretty good so far. I know most teams take advantage of the Etsy Mini's which is probably what your planning on doing for shops section. The front page also could be some sort of blog or something, and also looks like a lot of empty space, could be dressed up with an etsy mini down the side or something, but one of all your favorite so that everyone's items could be included. I know the way I have my website/blog ( http://www.rathina.com )set up probably could be easily be adapted to be used as some sort of team thing. Apparently "I-frame", without the hyphen causes it. Actually, I can just set them up by user id, so you don't need to post them here.

Love that treasury! The site is coming along nicely too! I was just reading the forums and someone in the UK made a tiny little book to include with product she sells at fairs. It's a neat idea. Would you guys be interested in something like that? I have no problem putting it together and providing a PDF file for printing. Then it just needs to be trimmed and bound somehow (ribbon, string, staples). We could include it with new customer orders and it would get all of our shops out there. Edited to add link: http://littlebookofetsy.blogspot.com/

The site is looking great! If you want to do something like the littlebook of etsy why not just put together a nice brochure? I can have these printed pretty cheap.

Nrapture posted:Thanks for the kind treasury comments! The mini's however will always show your featured items first, so if you have 4 items featured, it will show only those 4, if you have 3 items featured, it will show those 3 plus whatever your most recently updated item was..thus if if you use no featured items, then it just lists the most recently updated items.

A brochure is doable. I just figured the little book would be easy to print on a home printer.

Seeing this has convinced me to do some etsy work this summer. I am a painter but I also do seriography and I have been thinking of doing limited edition print runs for a while now. I like the idea of doing affordable, small prints so people can have access to original artwork without the price tag. Etsy seems to make it easy enough that it might actually be worth my time.

Not that Savor soaps need my personal stamp of approval, but goddamn. I bought them thinking they'd probably be nice soaps for the guest bathroom. They arrived yesterday; I tried the aloe vera one today. Screw the guests. I'm using all of them myself! Babies would be jealous of my soft skin. altazakin, you work magic with soap. I already feel like a soap junkie thinking "I wonder when I can order more? I wonder how many I can get before the SO notices them? Hee hee hee."

So anything new going on with the website at all? Or any projects or anything going on? It would be nice if we could get organised, perhaps get more goons in on this. Once we get everything organised, we could perhaps make a thread in SA-Mart or buy banners or something. At least we should have a new thread started that at least has the goon squad team stuff. I don't mind doing any of these things, but I just don't want to overstep anyone if someone else wants to be in charge of things.

If anyone else would like to help edit it, go for it and send it to me.

I think a big part of our appeal is that we can custom-make things without necessarily charging the gigantic premium that larger companies do. Since everything we make is "custom made" (i.e. we don't have to reprogram our manufacturing equipment to make a unique item), we can take reasonable suggestions and incorporate it with a relatively low (if any) fee. So, in the SA Mart thread, we should be selling not only our stuff, but also our services. Same goes for the website.

I did some work messing around with a website for our team you can see it here in its temporary location: http://www.caken.com it's pretty close to being finished, if you guys like it we can use it, and figure out what domain name to buy to go with it. I figure a blog would be a good thing, as every week we could "feature" a different goon's shop, and also post announcements of treasuries whenever we happen to get them. I don't know at this point if a seperate forum is needed as it seems there is just a handful of us, but if we get really huge, we should have a different forum. Once we get the webpage done, that's when we should start the new Etsy thread that lists a bit about what etsy is, along with links to shops / and to the website, and a request if people want to join. I like that idea -- there is definitely strength in numbers. I'm part of a really big team and they manage to snag treasuries often, just because of the sheer number of members. It's great for exposure. If people have ideas about articles about how to do things on Etsy, I'm happy to write something up for the blog. I just don't know what people would be interested in knowing.

I hope I was able to put some minds at ease for that evening at least. I never worked as a lobbyist or campaign strategist so it's taken me a bit longer to come up with some ideas of what to do rather than what not to expend too much time over. My unsolicited advice: 1. Write to the committee directly. The individual Representatives only have to care about their own constituents; the committee represents all. 2. I'm going to guess that the majority of the people who create and sell handcrafted soap and other B&B products are women. How many self-employed women would be put out of business by this? Small business and women's rights groups might be interested in this issue if they were made aware of it.

I also bought a bunch of soap since I was in a shopping mood.

Got another Treasury West http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list_west.php?room_id=12584 Also, it's much much easier to find things for treasuries if your all tagging your items 'Team Goon', as we get more members we probably can make the treasuries with themes Don't forget to be logged in when you give it clicks! I finally updated all my tags. I think we need to update the first post in this thread with all the info about team goon. also, Ive never been able to do a treasury. It's like the number never even drops close to the point where they accept new ones. Is there some trick to this Im oblivious to?

I thought both websites looked very nice, but Dominoes' link is no longer active. Carrot Cake, if you sort the main treasury by expiration (where lists that expire soon are at the end), go to page 17 and look at about the center of the page, that will tell you about when the treasury will open up. Right now, the treasury will open in about 8 hours. altazakin, your ad looked very nice. I keep wondering if it would be worth it for me to get one. Right now though, I booked a main showcase slot to try and gain some exposure. I hope it's worth the $15.

Hey -- is anyone else doing the Yart sale (yard sale for art)? It's just kinda a grass-roots movement to have a sale! I slashed all of my shipping prices to give people a really great deal, and instant savings, and tagged most of my items with "yart"

Dominoes though doesnt seem to stop by this thread very often..so I suppose give it a few more days to see if Dominoes checks back in, if not I'll go ahead and buy a domain name and use my website and go ahead and create the thread. Also, I'm wondering if we should pick a different forum for the new thread (perhaps gbs/samart) to get more attention..after all were not just looking for more members, were looking for more buyers too...goons supporting goons. altazakin posted:Hey, thanks!!
