So the new Have Heart full length got leaked. Anyone else hear it? Opinions? I like it, but it's definitely not as good as The Things We Carry. Pat's vocals sound way different and the music is way more melodic on this record. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it'll take some getting use to. And for those who have heard of Johnny Cage (now named The Sunset Limited ), their new 7" is up on their myspce: http://www.myspace.com/thesunsetltd I have a feeling no one's ever heard Johnny Cage's older stuff though which is really good. Not saying the new stuff is bad, it's just kinda different than their first album.

I listened to the new Verse album for 3 days straight after I got it, I love everything about it, as for the new Have Heart, Im not terribly fond of it but it seems to grow on me over time. I listened to "Bostons" and "Hard Bark on the Family Tree" a few times and wasnt terrible impressed and then about a week later I listened to it again and I changed my mind about it. I might just not have been in a hardcore mood then also.

gently caress yeah! I got selected to guest DJ during the Coup D'etat weekend on fm 94.9. Should be fun, although my shift is at 1:30 am . Anyway it will be broadcast online as well so if anyone is slightly interested in hearing the show, I'll link it here. It's going to be hard to make a playlist with no swearing. gently caress the FCC.

That's very clever, unfortunately I don't have any. They did say to call if I had questions about what I can and can't say, I'm assuming it's stuff like poo poo and gently caress because I've heard a good deal of hells and damns on 94.9. I love this radio station because winning poo poo from them is like shooting fish in a barrel. E: It's not all going to be hardcore, I haven't ever heard Childhood's End by Pink Floyd on the radio and it's high loving time. Plus I like some hippy poo poo

Tuesday night, I got to treat myself to Asian Man Record's "Making Punk Fun Again" tour. It was a great show. I got to see Lemuria for the second time in 6 months and I'll be seeing them again in July at BereaFest. I finally got to see Bomb the Music Industry!, which is perhaps one of my favorite bands ever. I was a little disappointed in The Queers, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I missed Kepi Ghoulie, but came in right in time to hear Andrew Jackson Jihad. It was great show overall, me thinks. Any other goons going to BereaFest this year?

You didn't miss much with Kepi Ghoulie, the music wasn't very great and his bassist sucks rear end. He's funny as hell though. Sucks that the Queers weren't very good, they owned when I went.

Kepi came out and played 3 songs with the Queers and that was exciting to see. He's got a lot of energy.

You're lucky regarding the pit. I got stuck in between two fuckers who really, really wanted to fight each other, which resulted in my throat getting crushed between two huge dudes forearms for a good deal of the Queers' set. I think they were fighting over who would keep the amp in front of us from being pushed into Joe Queer (???). I dunno, it was weird. There were a lot of dickheads at that show actually. I drat near had to deck some dude because he was being such a loving pig. Thank God for his nice friend, I didn't really want to miss the last couple sets because I got kicked out.

I can't wait to see No Target Audience, Ghost Town Trio and the Sidekicks again. I'm also really looking forward to seeing Bomb the Music Industry!, Lemuria and the Ergs! twice in a row in the New York/New Jersey area for my birthday. At that point, I will have seen all of these bands three times within the last six months as well. Last time I saw Bomb, I played my two-string slide bass on 493 Ruth and Pizza Claus. It was so awesome I was literally shaking.

I consider myself lucky that I got to see one of the dozen or so LaGrecia shows before they broke up and On Parallels leaking only reinforces that fact. Every time I listen to it, I find a new song that I love; right now, it's 'Can't Go Back to Daddy's' just because of that phenomenal bassline during the verse.

Seconding the the Gaslight Anthem love. My expectations were sky-high for "The '59 Sound," but I'm actually surprised at how good it is. Not only is it album of the year, but best album of last year too. The last time I was this immediately in love with a new album was when The Lawrence Arms put out "Oh! Calcutta!"
