My parents actually went out and bought a Dodge 1500 in summer of 02. They wanted it to haul dirt and stuff off road, I told them to get a diesel because of what/how much they would haul and they didn't

Now they still feed that monster V8 and are finally beginning to see the light

After 2 transmission replacements.

No. It's the very rare "AVAC" Nav-Stereo system. They were only on the market for a short while... probably because of being DOUBLED IN to work.

Back in 04 when I was in the market for a Truck I test drove a new Dodge with a Hemi.

I'd never actually been in a vehicle where you could actually see the fuel gauge move.

I went about 5 miles and ran out of gas as we got back into the dealership parking lot.

I got curious. According to http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_fuel_consumption_of_a_boeing_747
a 747 gets roughly
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=17+liters+per+kilometer+in+gallons+per+mile
7 mpg.

If you divide that between the 4-500 passengers, it's quite good. Hell, I dunno, maybe that beats a big thirsty truck outright.

Mulletstation
May 9, 2004

mo' mullets mo' problems
if you're on-ramping that truck you're probably only getting 1-2 mpg. Oh, and also add in the cost of those sweet Dodge quality Tranny's

Wrong. 7 gallons per mile, not 7 miles per gallon. Divided by passengers, you're still ahead though.

Maybe to this guy, only the seats are considered as part of the interior. The aftermarket steering wheel, big-rear end boost gauge and ugly shift boot are just "accessories."

But I have to admit, this would've been one bad-rear end street machine if it weren't for that huge and ugly cowl.

The LSx motor would probably be one of the best options, since its likely similar in weight to one of the normal iron-blocked B6 Mazda engines, which aren't really that light. I picked one up once, just once.

The 5.0 is cheap and makes good power, but its probably a lot heavier, not to mention most gearboxes that can reliably take the power of a V8 weigh a lot more than a Miata transmission.

I really just wanted to buy it and park it infront of the house to piss off the neighbors.

The vehicle is light enough that you do not need the CDL.

Go check the wiki, but maybe its different in Pennsylvania. I know its legal in Tennessee

Well Pennsylvania is pretty strict on their classifications of what is a truck and what is not, so it doesn't suprise me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M35A2

Weight: 13,050 lbs
I think it has to weigh 25,000 in Tennessee for you to need a CDL

Also, adding the winch adds 500 lbs. 500!

I checked my license, it's good for anything up to 26,001lbs.

Registration fee on something that heavy is probably pretty ridiculous though.

Registration is Dependant upon the purchasing price here, it'll be $75 (the max they charge to register a vehicle here).

Plus since its a collectors vehicle and won't be driven much I can get collectors insurance.
