Sid Meier Jr. posted:Might I also suggest rugs Yeah I also don't understand this. I spent a lot of money having the original hardwood floors in house refinished and have no interest in covering it up or damaging it in this room where we have two chairs which roll around all day by leaving it bare. I will at some point just buy a huge piece of that clear plastic crap though and cut it to fit the room so it's not all mismatched like now. qlat posted:What Ikea desks are those and how do you like them? I don't know what the brown one is, it's a hand-me-down. The black ones I think are VIKA (I have a third one which I was planning on putting on the far wall but never got around to it). They are very very cheap and you match the legs and tabletop.. I think they were $35/piece.

All I did was search for 'jerker' and a couple popped up. Seattle.craigslist is awesome for stuff like this. Between UW students and the myriad of internet startups around here, someone is always getting rid of almost any piece of Ikea crap you could want, as well as the usual brands of hoity toity office chairs like Miller and Steelcase.

I wouldn't mind knowing though in case I ever have to replace it.

Only thing that annoys me, apart going back from a NEK 4000 to a "rectangular" keyboard, is the loving retarded placement of the Insert key.

Sultry Fungus posted:Do you have free/unlimited 3g bandwidth? And if not, won't that cost you a fortune? Over here we have 'mobile broadband', basically a small thumb-drive sized device that you plug into a USB port. It functions purely as a 3G modem, and you can't use the SIM to make/receive calls (I think). Unlimited bandwidth, but rather pointless since every major mall here has free wifi already. Might be the same where he lives.

As long as you use a program that doesn't show its passthroughing the connection to a computer, and don't use an extraordinary amount of bandwidth (which is actually quite a bit, if you consider a lot of phones are loading youtube et al, as long as you aren't torrenting linux isos you're pretty much good).

It's a prepaid kind of thing, like you can get with mobile phones. You pay x dollars and get y quota that will expire in z days (in my case I bought 12gig and it's good for a year). Ordinarily I use it for the netbook but it's handy whilst I am awaiting the installation of ADSL.Triikan posted:As long as you use a program that doesn't show its passthroughing the connection to a computer, and don't use an extraordinary amount of bandwidth (which is actually quite a bit, if you consider a lot of phones are loading youtube et al, as long as you aren't torrenting linux isos you're pretty much good).
