http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWEBQSvSGB0 Buddy of mine setting a new TTB track record at VIR in an S2000... his first time there. This guy is also the 2008 NASA TTC National Champion in his S2000. About the Sebring video, the corner with the 4 quick downshifts is the safety pin. It used to be a hairpin but too many people would go in too hot and end up flying into the kitty litter, so they toned it down a bit, but even now, if you're not careful coming off that straightaway you can go off easily. I had the pleasure of doing a couple HPDE days there and its a fantastic track. That back straight is a gearhead's fantasy. I managed 120-ish in my stock S2000 before I had to start braking. dandaman fucked around with this message at 05:06 on Mar 5, 2009 |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzovmH3QIw0 Hellion Power Systems' GT500 twin turbo kit. Everyone needs a twin screw and twin turbos. I'm digging the twin screw low-end with the twin turbo high-end. 711hp and 736tq on 16.5psi (compound) and 91 octane.

loving awesome hillclimb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssqs...player_embedded Sorry, no date on this video, but what we do know is that it's of French hillclimber Lionel Regal attacking the Course de Course de Côte at Mont Ventoux in his Mugen-Honda-powered Reynard F3000 car. He's obviously very comfortable behind the wheel, with championships in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 to show for it. It also occurs to us that Lionel Regal may well have been used to create the original casts for Truck Nutz. Follow the jump, watch, and you'll understand, too. A brief word of caution: Googling his name will keep you in front of your screen watching videos for quite a while...

The turbos feed the supercharger which feeds the engine. The boost is indeed compounded in the supercharger and since that GT500 is completely stock aside from the turbo system they kept the boost levels down to 8psi at the turbos and 16psi total from the supercharger. Hellion's shop '03 Cobra with twin turbos feeding the supercharger sees 45+psi at the manifold and makes nearly 1200rwhp. It also happens to be for sale.

kimbo305 posted:So the tubing into the supercharger is just modified to accept the air from the turbos? There's not really modification required to the tubing other than that its connected to the outlet from the turbos.

kimbo305 posted:So the tubing into the supercharger is just modified to accept the air from the turbos? I guess you've never seen a roots blower. The inlet on a roots blower usually contains the throttle body and such; it's trivial to connect the turbo outlet to the blower inlet. The advantage to this setup is obvious from the dyno graph at the end of that GT500 video, you get instant boost from the blower since they develop full boost at 1500RPM, while getting the top end charge of the turbos once they spool up. No turbo lag, just a lot of tire smoke.

So I guess it's as simple as making some sort of Y silicone hosing and strapping the turbo output into one branch? I just didn't know whether or not turbulence or the like from the turbocharged air would be an issue with something as simple as a straightforward plug tube A into bigger tube B setup. I had a roots blower on my Focus, but the MAF was still way far away from the blower, so I imagine you'd have to go even further upstream of the MAF for the turbo air?

I had a roots blower on my Focus, but the MAF was still way far away from the blower, so I imagine you'd have to go even further upstream of the MAF for the turbo air? Since the turbos are feeding the supercharger you just put the meter between the turbos and the supercharger. Obviously you'll need a length of straight pipe to smooth out the air before it hits the meter, but this isn't a problem as you only need six inches or so and there is a roughly twelve inch section of straight pipe coming from the intercooler to the throttle body on the supercharger. This picture might explain it a little better for you. The turbo on the left is blocking your view of the MAF. Click here for the full 1024x680 image. Another view, but the MAF is still blocked; and yes, this kit uses the stock headers as they hold in a lot of heat which makes up for the slight restriction they offer over 800hp or so. Click here for the full 1024x680 image. Edit: In order to not be derailing the thread with tech, here's a video of a dude going 9.19 @ 150mph in his daily driver fox body. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOMRrRJSi5w Click here for the full 640x480 image. frozenphil fucked around with this message at 01:43 on Mar 8, 2009 |
